Abstract
This paper examines how prostitution in Thailand is practiced on such a large scale that it has become almost a way of life. The history of prostitution in the country goes back a long way, but it was internationalized during the Vietnam War when large numbers of American soldiers made Thailand their ?R&R? base. Since then, an increasing number of sex tourists have patronized the sex trade in Bangkok and certain other cities. The sex workers in Thailand comprise both ?free? and ?forced? prostitutes, both of whom are exposed to a number of risks, such as exposure to dangerous diseases, exploitation, and violence. The profession does, however, provide a living for a large number of poor women, and the sex industry in Thailand is big business for many, including the thriving tourist industry.

"The single biggest cause of prostitution in Thailand is without doubt poverty. Poverty is, as Mr. Shahabudin notes, ?a vicious force that drives families to sacrifice their daughters to prostitution.? Most surveys of ?massage girls? in Bangkok show that over 70% of the girls come from poor farming families and almost all of them send part of their earnings home to feed their families. Many of them come from refugee families who have lost their land on which they farmed previously; now these families have little choice but to send their children out for work in order to survive. The incentive for making income through prostitution in Thailand is overwhelming for poor peasant girls: Catherine Hill (1993) quoting Pasuk Phongpaichit, author of From Peasant Girls to Bangkok Masseuses ( 1982, 8) writes that prostitution in Thailand offers ?wages up to twenty-five times the wages to women in other industries.?"

Abstract
Today, the people of Thailand are faced with many of the same issues confronting their counterparts in both industrialized and developing nations. Around the world, concern is growing about who receives access to healthcare services. Some analysts suggest that the disparities in healthcare are actually increasing. These observers maintain that the shift in the healthcare system in advanced industrial countries from the principle of universal access to a more market-oriented system may be one cause of the growing disparities they observe; rising income inequality is another likely reason. To determine when, why and if Thai adolescents are using the enormous repository of valuable healthcare information provided by the internet, this study examines the scholarly literature and surveys a convenience sampling of Thai youths. An analysis of the data is followed by a summary of the research in the conclusion, together with appropriate recommendations for policymakers and adolescent internet users in the rapidly industrializing Kingdom of Thailand today.

"Guilt and shame are often intimately tied to criminal acts involving sex offenses. There is a body of research suggesting that the presence of guilt and shame among sex offenders may inhibit any efforts toward building empathy within the scope of a rehabilitative treatment program. Kubany & Watson (2003) for example suggest that the construct of guilt has received relatively little attention from researchers but may have a negative impact on programs designed to help build empathy among sex offenders. They propose a multi-dimensional model to measure the magnitude of guilt one may experience after a negative event, suggesting that the more guilt a sex offender feels the more likely the guilt is to affect their ability or capacity to express empathy."

Abstract
This paper explains that 81 percent of parents and guardians polled favor sex education programs that teach all aspects of sex and sexuality, which include how to use birth control and how to protect against STDs, instead of the widespread abstinence-only and dangers of sex program. The author stresses that, even with most schools teaching abstinence-only programs, the approach isn?t working very well; teenagers are not abstaining from sex. The paper concludes that teaching teens about the dangers of STDs and the consequences and responsibility that surrounds sexual relationships may actually be reinforcing abstinence as the safest way.

?In 1996, a companion bill was put onto the Welfare Reform Act. This bill budgeted $440 million over the span of five years to support abstinence-only sex education. In order for school districts to receive funding, they are required to tell the kids that ?sexual activity outside the context of marriage is likely to have harmful psychological and physical effects? and that ?a mutually faithful monogamous relationship in the context of marriage is the expected standard of human sexual activity.? The kids are not to be told about condoms, birth control, or any other protection methods except to highlight their failure rates. Right now, every state except California accepts this funding. In recent news, the Bush administration is attempting to put forth an initiative to increase the funding for this abstinence-only policy."
