Abstract
This paper takes a look at the newest technologies. The paper also discusses issues such as privacy, illegal downloads, connection speeds and theft. According to the paper, governments will be forced to develop a new wave of consumer protection laws and creative laws, protecting intellectual property as a result of all this new technology.

From the Paper
"IPod docking stations are becoming increasingly more integrated into standard audio systems in automobiles and home stereos. A set of reasonably-priced TEAC systems offer, for less than $300, the chance to dock and charge the IPod while listening. Moreover, the systems come with CDRW-compatible players that can read and play MP3s burned onto disks. Home audio and video systems are becoming more integrated and compatible with portable media storage too. The ability to link digital storage with analog sound systems means also that audiophiles have their entire music collection at their fingertips and can launch files using their PC, their IPod, or their ISP's digital music service. Moreover, sound systems such as the TEAC are streamlined, urban-friendly and ideal for use in small spaces."

Abstract
This paper gives an overview of the developing field of computer ethics. The paper explains how this field, defined as the study of the characteristics and communal bearing of computer technology and the subsequent creativity and explanation of policies for the ethical utilization of such technology, has a very solid and important future as seen from the tremendous development of computer technology during the last couple of decades.

From the Paper
"In these circumstances, we face either insufficient policies or no policies to guide us. The main role of computer ethics is in devising procedures to guide our actions on what we should do in such circumstances. Obviously we need to tackle few ethical issues as a human being or as a community. Both individual and social policies are taken care by computer ethics for the ethical purpose of computer technology. It may appear that a routine deployment of an ethical theory to develop the suitable policy is what is all needed. However, this is typically not feasible. This is because we encounter no-concept situation along with no-policy situation. (Moor, 1985, p.268)"

" Financial Benefits of Analyzing Emerging Technology

Argument
There is one primary question most business executives ask when considering the adoption of emerging technology: what kind of economic return will I get in proportion to the expenditure? That question is of paramount concern to businesses ranging from sole proprietorships to Multi-National Corporations (Rheingold, 1994, 32-28). Answering that question has given rise to a new profession -- technology managers, or TMs (Chesbrough & Teece, 1996, 68).
In a commercial situation, TMs are responsible, as a rule, for five main areas: a) keeping upper management informed about new technologies that might improve profitability, b) keeping all.."

Art and Technology, 2004.
This paper explores the relationship between art and technology and concentrates on the importance of photography in the emergence between art and technology.

Abstract
With the developments in technology, the connection between art and technology came faster than ever. This paper explores how the invention of photography affected the relationship between art and technology in the history of art. It includes genres like Impressionism, Modernism, and Dadaism, and also talks about very important figures of art history, such as Pablo Picasso, Edgar Degas, and Paul Cezanne.

From the Paper
"The first major modern technological advance that began to change the face of art was photography. Photography was invented by the French painter Louis Daguerre in 1837 and was immediately met with opposition from many in the art world. Artists had long struggled trying to capture a realistic portrait of the world around them. Now with photography, science had succeeded marvelously. Thus, the photograph introduced an era of mechanical reproducibility which challenged the accepted paradigm of artistic genius: the concept of a work of art as a unique image created by hand by a trained artist. Photography slowly began taking the jobs earlier filled by artists. It proved to be a faster and less expensive way to accurately portray the world; therefore, photography was used to take pictures of buildings and portraits where earlier an artist would have been commissioned (Wolter-Abele, 1)."

Technologies for Virtual Businesses, 2006.
This paper discusses the integration of emerging computer and Internet technologies required for the information systems of today's virtual stores and offices.
1,155 words (approx. 4.6 pages), 6 sources, APA, $ 39.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
This paper explains that today's leading business organizations are characterized primarily by their flexibility to provide products and services through their brick-and-mortar and virtual Internet stores and offices. The author points out recently developed technologies that demonstrate the consumer-centric and integrated systems approach adopted by these virtual organizations. The paper explains (1) the technological idea of co-opetition, (2) the IT intelligence 'correlative' to customer service, (3) integrated client management systems, (4) identity management and (5) anti-phishing service.

From the Paper
"Discussing first the idea of co-opetition is essential since the remaining four technologies discussed in this paper actually embody the thought expressed by the idea of co-opetition. Co-opetition is more than just a relational description between products or services; it extends towards one-to-one relationship to include other relations or many-to-one relations among products or services, until these products or services create an integrated system that makes work and operations easier, faster, more productive, and more efficient."

Explainss e-business processes for customers and suppliers; IT applications; E-business readiness of customers and suppliers. Communication within and among businesses. New technology developments. Management implications.

From the Paper
"EMERGING E-BUSINESS TECHNOLOGIES

There is a television commercial now on the air which implies that nobody has to know how big or small you are when you do business on the internet. The point is really dual: the world of marketing is expanding. And, the technologies are now within reach of the ordinary businessman.

Author and e-commerce expert Chuck Martin provides seven "cybertrends" (Martin, 1999, p.4-5): The cyber-economy goes Main Street (a new breed of consumer, far more demanding, will be created). The Wired work-force takes over. (Workers will have more information and means of using it). The Open-Book Corporation emerges. (Boundaries between the corporation and the outside world of suppliers and consumers will disappear). Products become commodities (values for products and services will be changed)."

Abstract
This paper discusses web traffic patterns and how the existing internet infrastructure is inadequate for the sheer amount of data and file types now moving across the web and over the Internet. It looks at how new and emerging technologies such as wireless use of the Internet to transfer media files and voice over internet protocols (VoIP) are consuming ever more bandwidth and how this affects the overall quality of service (QoS) of many of the most basic aspects of Internet usage.

Outline:
Abstract
Overview
Internet Protocols & Data
VOIP & Similar Communication Media
Quality of Service Issues
Future Internet Trends

From the Paper
"Quality of service or QoS allows networks to provide higher levels of service in terms of quality and efficiency by improving data flows across the network. Some of the traditional strategies to improve QoS have been to merely increase the priority levels of some data over that of others (Voice, 2005). This only works so far before it results traffic degradation system wide as all traffic becomes prioritized in order to compensate. While many companies and service providers traditionally just increased bandwidth in order to correct for QoS issues, this too is just a short-term solution to the exponentially increasing internet traffic that is resulting from the mass movement of multi-media files and data streams across the internet (IP, 2003)."

Abstract
This paper explains that, in their haste to introduce market reforms and efficiencies into their antiquated agricultural systems, many emerging nations have sacrificed their environment and citizens' health in exchange for some well-intentioned but misguided short-term gains in productivity. The author points out that past agricultural practices were based on tradition and spiritual concepts; however, many emerging nations have succeeded in overcoming these constraints through innovative policies and initiatives. The paper stresses that modern western agricultural practices rely heavily on heavy and expensive equipment as well as industrial pesticides and fertilizers to wrench continued high yields from the soil are not readily transferable to many emerging nations.

From the Paper
"Within rural sociology, sustainable agriculture is frequently considered to be a mutually exclusive "competing paradigm" that challenges conventional agriculture on environmental, economic and ideological grounds. As a result, much of the research on identifying sustainable agricultural practices has been focused on understanding the characteristics which differentiate conventional and alternative farmers, as well as the conditions that serve to constrain or facilitate the development of alternative practices and ways of thinking among farmers and agriculture more generally. For example, researchers have examined a variety of farmer and farm attributes such as age, education, orientation to risk, perception of environmental problems, farm size, and profitability; the impact of agricultural markets and prices and state policies, programs and services have also been examined extensively."

"Until two decades ago, the primary educational delivery model for collegiate professorial staff was basically the traditional lecture (O'Malley and McCraw, 2004). Student populations were made up of young residential people who did not work or worked part-time. By 2000, the student population had expanded to include older, employed, and non-residential students. Because of new technologies, online learning created new opportunities for all types of students to learn, regardless of time and location."

There is No Emerging Democratic Party, 2006.
An analysis of the book "The Emerging Democratic Majority," by John Judis and Ruy Teixeira.

» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
This paper discusses the book "The Emerging Democratic Majority," by John Judis and Ruy Teixeira. The book's authors argue that the Democratic Party is destined to be the majority due to minority groups' rise in demographic terms. The paper's author argues against this belief, stating that political belief crosses many spectra, rather than solely through minorities.

From the Paper
There can be little doubt that today's political landscape is buffeted by many cross-currents, but increasingly it does seem to be the case that the Republican Party speaks in the name of universal causes, while the Democrats raise minority rights or self-interest. This reverses the relation between the parties from just forty years ago when a provincial Republican Party proclaiming the virtue of diversity faced off against a nationalist Democratic Party; however, it also represents a return to the parties' respective positions through much of their histories.

China's Emerging Markets, 2006.
An in-depth look at emerging markets and transition in China.
2,900 words (approx. 11.6 pages), 6 sources, MLA, $ 85.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
This paper takes a look at the history of China's national economy, based on the perspective of PT Bauer's theory of economic attainment and achievement. It then goes on to review and discuss China's current economic situation focusing on China's emerging markets and transitional economic position. The paper further discusses the role of the Bank of China in this economy.

From the Paper
"Today, in China, the state has managed to change its policies in providing funding to various state-owned enterprises, from appropriations to loans, and this has had the result that the original free appropriation relationship that existed between state-owned enterprises and banks broke completely. This in turn meant that they were replaced by credit relations on commercial terms, and this means that loans for the domestic banks would serve as the most important channels and the main marks for the marketization of capital in China. The proportion taken up by domestic loans therefore may be partially used to measure the marketization of the capital of China. Upon an intensive study, it was revealed that the loans for the state policy banks, witnessed from either the absolute quantity or the relative quantity, showed a reducing trend since 1997. This also means that while there has been a sharp growth in the loans from commercial banks, which attained 92 percent in 2001, they also occupied an absolutely dominating position. This means a remarkably high degree of marketization of capital in China. Therefore, it can be stated that marketization in China has today reached much higher levels than ever before. (Comprehensive analysis on marketization of capital in China)"
