Abstract
It has been said that "John Diefenbaker remains one of the most fascinating and enigmatic Canadian politicians of our century, and his conduct of Canadian external affairs well demonstrates both his strengths and weaknesses." Indeed, it did. Diefenbaker showed himself to have very strong principles when it came to foreign policy, but in the end, those strong principles became his weakest traits. By turning increasingly against Kennedy after 1961, Diefenbaker could not force himself to support Canada's obligatory role in the Cuban Missile crisis and Canada's promise to accept American nuclear weapons. In failing to deliver on Canadian responsibilities, Diefenbaker showed how his strength ultimately translated into a stubbornness that defeated his own foreign policy.

Abstract
The paper explores the literature and empirical examples within case studies and illustrates how and why the fair trade regime emerged as an alternative to the traditional market system. The paper then describes the tenets of fair trade and highlights the strengths and weaknesses of fair trade as a concept in a series of opposing arguments. The paper shows how fair trade is growing and has created a much-needed awareness of the consequences of purchasing fair trade products. The paper contends that given the current inequalities that permeate international trade, it is important that fair trade include as many producers as possible.

Outline:
Introduction
The Emergence of Fair Trade
A Comparative Analysis of the Strengths and Weaknesses of Fair Trade
Conclusion

From the Paper
"We live in a world where the richest 10% of the population account for 54% of total global income (United Nations Development Program 2005, p. 10). Through the increasing interconnectivity of the world system a raised awareness of this global injustice has emerged. The neoliberal system that has dominated global commerce since the 1980s has clearly benefitted an affluent minority at the expense of those who have persistently been excluded from the benefits of this system. Global civil society has engaged itself in many different ways in attempts to change and modify this system and from these efforts has emerged a system of so-called "fair trade"."

Strengths and Weaknesses, 2007.
An essay focusing on the writer's personal talents and weaknesses.
1,448 words (approx. 5.8 pages), 1 source, MLA, $ 48.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
The paper asserts that most people only are aware of their weaknesses since they have been blamed and ridiculed for their weaknesses all their lives. The paper decries the fact that most individuals do not know their own true strengths. The paper explains M. Buckingham's theory why this is so. The writer describes his/her strengths and weaknesses and how he /she will maximize his/her talents in a productive way.

From the Paper
"Buckingham says there are several reasons for this. The first is that people are afraid of their weaknesses. Their perspective is so slanted toward weakness and illness that they know very little about strength and health. Secondly, individuals all have a fear of failure. That is, since failing is not easy to take, some individuals do not want to risk it. However, based on the context of the challenges of strong living, this fear of failure becomes especially difficult to eliminate. Strong living asks a person to be brave, to be perceptive, to listen for performance feedback from the external world, and, more than all, to keep investigating one's strengths despite the many influences pulling him or her away from them."

From the Paper
"While Japan is still very much focused on traditional culture, the country absorbed a great deal of Western technology during the late 19th and early 20th centuries (Bartleby, 2000). After losing World War II, Japan experienced an amazing recovery, which secured its status as the second most powerful economy in the world and a loyal ally of the United States. Although the emperor holds the throne as a symbol of national unity, the actual power falls to a network of powerful politicians, bureaucrats, and business executives. Japan?s economy experienced a major slowdown in the 1990s, following three decades of unprecedented growth, and currently has some serious economic challenges."

Abstract
This paper takes a look at the character traits of woman in New York in the 1870s, using the characters May Welland and Countess Ellen Olenska, from Edith Wharton's 'The Age of Innocence', in order to symbolize, as well as stipulate, the significant differences between what defined a strong woman as apposed to a weak woman in Old New York Society.

From the Paper
"Within our reading of 'The Age of Innocence', Edith Wharton gives us an opportunity to view the fickle composition of Old New York Society and the roles of women embodied within the society's opaque infrastructure, all stemming from her own experiences with the society in question. Wharton introduced May Welland and Countess Ellen Olenska in order to symbolize, as well as stipulate, the differences between what a strong woman, and what a weak woman, would be like in the Old New York Society of the 1870's. The novel contains many instances, in which, we can readily identify the strengths of May's character, as well as the weaknesses of Ellen's."

"Constitutionalism, Democracy and Foreign Affairs" by Louis Henkin, 1994.

From the Paper
"Louis Henkin in Constitutionalism, Democracy, and Foreign Affairs writes about the thorny issue of the governance of foreign affairs, something that Henkin says has been neglected in constitutional jurisprudence. Henkin approaches his analysis as a way of defining issues facing constitutional scholars and courts required to adjudicate matters regarding the governance of foreign policy. Henkin sees the overall issue as one which is in what he calls the "twilight zone" of constitutional jurisprudence, plagued both by concerns raised by what the Constitution did not address and by what the Constitution did address, with the latter capable of creating as many thorny issues as the former. Henkin is critical of certain elements of the debate, but he is not one calling for a massive change or for throwing out the old organs of government because he knows that..."

NAFTA and Its Weaknesses, 2008.
A discussion of the weaknesses of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
1,685 words (approx. 6.7 pages), 8 sources, MLA, $ 54.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
This paper takes a look at the positive and negative effects the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has had in Canada, the United States and Mexico. The paper asserts that NAFTA has taken on somewhat mythical proportions in the minds of its proponents and detractors alike. It holds that NAFTA has primarily struck a dissonant tone with the U.S. and Mexico, while Canada largely accepted its utility. To its detractors NAFTA offered a convenient scapegoat for all of the economic woes since its inception in January 1994, and to its proponents it has been responsible for most of the economic growth periods of the last 10 years. Yet, beyond all the hype, rhetoric, and ideology superficially imposed on it, NAFTA was a dynamic process that required monumental negotiation commitment on the part of the signatories and certainly on the part of Canada as the smallest market.
The paper concludes that, although NAFTA comes with its negative attributes, it has largely proven a boon to the Canadian economy and the country would be ill-advised to withdraw from the treaty.

Outline:
History & Description
NAFTA Weaknesses & Failure
Benefits & Cost Outcomes
Conclusion

From the Paper
"While NAFTA has been somewhat contentious since before its inception, the economic results of the agreement have proven largely inline with the positive projections associated with NAFTA by its designers and supporters. In fact, the increasing reliance on free-trade agreements which essentially become a 5th column in a country's foreign policy mechanism, NAFTA has become not just an economic success but a political template for further free-trade agreements across the globe. Some researchers have pointed out that NAFTA was ground-breaking both for its visionary approach to expanded trade relationships and for its unique integration into the signatory countries' sovereignty."

Weaknesses in the Criminal Justice System, 2002.
Questions whether the American criminal justice system has a weak or strong link with other departments.
717 words (approx. 2.9 pages), 8 sources, APA, $ 25.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
In large countries, administering justice is by no means an easy task. This is because there are a great many people, composing a diverse demography amid a never-ending sea of social problems. In order to cope with these problems, criminal justice systems are set up to implement laws that address disorder. But in spite of the criminal justice system being established, intricacies created by social disorder mitigate the efficiency of the laws implemented. In addition to this, there may be other factors, such as malpractice by law enforcers that cause the justice system much embarrassment and dissatisfaction. This paper argues that the American criminal justice system appears to be composed of separate systems with weak links to each other, since they each act almost independently according to the discretion or loopholes in the law. The paper uses a case study to present its argument.

From the Paper
"Another weakness in the justice system is the allowance for law enforcing officers to use discretion. These are actions that are legitimate, but it must be remembered that these actions are allowed because of the fact that if every one had to be judged by the narrow descriptions of the law there would be many more people in jail than there already are. But the problem is that there have been several cases where police discretion has also been used in a negative fashion."

"Many of the things we now know about life were derived from research that was done to discover the answers. The things we like, the products we purchase, the way therapy is handled, and thousands of other decisions are made in part because research determined what would be best or what we want most. Research is the cornerstone of civilized society and there are many approaches that can be used."

"Google, Amazon, Yahoo, and Apple iTunes are all test marketing downloadable movies and Video-On-Demand through their customer advisory councils, market research, and market planning departments. This presents a significant long-term threat to Netflix. Citigroup Research, 2006 has measured the market size for Video-On-Demand over the Web and says that less than 1% of users today are opting for this strategy, yet the potential for Google to create their own multimedia platform exists. It is the consensus of investment analysts who track this area that long-term Google plans a global multimedia and wireless platform for delivering entertainment content."

Finding Strengths in Friendships, 2000.

Abstract
This paper analyzes the close bond, depicted by Toni Morrison in her novels "Beloved" and "Sula", between African-American women that gives them the strength to continue on, regardless of what crosses their path.

From the Paper
"For African-American women, the strong bonds formed in friendships are necessary for survival in a world that always seems to be against them. Alone, they are targets, but together, there is strength. In Toni Morrison?s novels, "Beloved" and "Sula", the friendships that take place between young women supply the required bond of unity and love that each needs to live. Inevitably, the bond is broken and although the women are no longer targets, their lives are irreversibly changed."

Weaknesses in Karl Marx's Theories on Society, 2006.
A review of the history of Karl Marx's theories and their failure in modern times.
1,350 words (approx. 5.4 pages), 7 sources, $ 53.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
This paper discusses Karl Marx, an influential thinker for his time. His theoretical approach was ideal for that period, during which people were trying to make sense of the disruptive influences of the rapid industrialization of the Western world. The paper further discusses how over time, it has become apparent that Marx's thinking was also specific to that time. At times, Marx did not fully think through his theories, ignoring what the results would be if what he theorized upon eventually came to pass.

From the Paper
"Much has been written about Karl Marx's theories. Marx was an influential thinker whose theories resonate even today, although they were written in terms of the period in which he lived. Because these theories were written with this specific period in mind, however, they are not as strong as they were at that time. Some weaknesses have become apparent in his arguments, arguments that have become apparent over the distance provided by time. Because of these weaknesses, it is important to view Marx's theory with an eye toward a historical approach. Marx was a German-born theorist and activist. His works were revolutionary for their time, putting forth revolutionary ideas that empowered the working class. "

Everest (Hall, n.d.). In an expedition in 1993, Hall's partner Ball died due to a cold weather related injury (Roberto & Carioggia, 2003). Hall continued to manage the firm after his partner's death. In 1995 Hall experienced his first failure, not being able to guide his clients to the summit due to weather conditions. In 1996, however, he rallied a team to attempt that treacherous climb which took his life (Hall, n.d.). From 1990 to today Adventure Consultants have had a total of 92 expeditions around the world (Previous Expeditions, n.d.). The cost of the company's services began at $35,000 and increased to $65,000 in only six years (Hall, n.d.)."
