Abstract
This paper explains that mercury preparations and compounds are a vitally important component of U.S. production in a wide range of industries, but its use carries with it some known health and environmental risks. The author points out that the coal, agricultural and healthcare industries, which use mercury compounds, are most likely in favor of the legislation because of a lack of a suitable alternative. The paper recommends that the U.S. Senate support the proposed legislation because it represents a viable approach to moderating the impact of mercury emissions across the board, provides those industries that are not currently able to achieve EPA standards with the opportunity to improve and is cost advantageous.

Table of Contents:
Introduction
Background and Overview
Coverage in the National and Local Media
Conclusions and Recommendations

From the Paper
"How is this proposal likely to play out in the press? Clearly, this is an emotionally charged issue that is fraught with opportunities for misunderstanding among the public, and these misperceptions about the safety record and importance of mercury in many industrial applications may be overlooked. There is, in fact, valid reason for concern. According to Stadler and Murray, during a 12-month period beginning in 2000, several major developments in mercury-related industries emphasized the need for oversight in order to eliminate mercury pollution and exposure in the United States."

Abstract
In this internal memo a proposal for a stress management and reduction program is presented. First, an introduction to stress, and stress management is given, followed by the justification for a stress management program. The proposed program is then outlined in detail. Qualifications and experience of the stress management team, and subcontractors are detailed. A detailed budget is given.

From the Paper
"Certainly, the topic of stress has received an enormous amount of attention in the popular media in the past decade. This introduction will examine the problem of workplace-related stress within the United States. Further, a justification for a stress management and stress reduction program will be given.

"Stress is the bodies ?fight? reaction to an unpleasant situation. Stress causes our blood pressure to rise, our heart to beat faster, and our bodies to release adrenaline, among other changes. Stress itself is not necessarily bad for us. However, chronic, ongoing stress is undeniably harmful to human mental and physical health."

Mercury, 2007.
An analysis of the medical uses and risks of using mercury and the possible link between mercury and autism.

» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
This paper discusses the chemical properties and uses of mercury. It particularly discusses the medical uses of mercury and then goes on to describe the concerns of using mercury for medicinal purposes. The paper discusses the fact that government regulatory agencies are being pressured into loosening mercury pollution controls, despite the fact that history and science have shown the risks of mercury poisoning. The paper concludes by discussing the possible link between mercury in childhood vaccinations and the development of autism.

From the Paper
"Thimerosal, or thiomersal, is an organic compound containing mercury, that is used as an antiseptic and antifungal treatment Originally trademarked under the name Merthiolate in 1929, it has been "used as a preservative in vaccines, immune globulin preparations, skin test antigens, antivenoms, ophthalmic and nasal products, and tattoo inks." (Wikipedia 2006c) Most childhood vaccinations not longer contain thimerosal, and are instead stored in single-dose vials that do not need the same preservatives added. It was first used as a bactericide in vaccines in the early 1930s, and by the mid 1980s it was used in the vast majority of vaccines. In 1999, the American Academy of Pediatrics requested the removal of thimerosal from all pediatric vaccines. Today, thimerosal is still used in a few United States vaccinations, and "The World Health Organization, with US funding, is providing thimerosal-containing vaccines (TCVs) for children in developing countries with the same amounts of thimerosal, as were given American children at their peak exposure levels." (Wikipedia 2006c)"

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to study employee and customer?s reaction to Lufthansa Airline?s new service concept, based on its newly adopted cost reduction measures in order to remain competitive after the events of September 11 2001. This paper defines a problem statement and study design detailing such topics as the proposed literature review and the population, sample and sampling procedure.

From the Paper
"This study is of considerable significance for Lufthansa Airlines as it will help the organization redefine its business strategy in order to improve its corporate image and to compete effectively in existing tight market situations. The study will help the company in identifying the factors that directly affect customer?s satisfaction and thus will facilitate in providing better quality service in future. As the current market conditions are not much favorable for the airline industry, especially in the US market, which itself is a major segment, airlines are required to keep an edge over their competitors. Therefore, it is necessary for Lufthansa to identify the reasons for dissatisfaction of customers as well as the crew members and to develop strategies to remove this discrepancy in its service. In this way it will successfully maintain its image, which it has developed over years and will ensure its long term success and profitability."

Poverty Reduction in China, 2008.
This paper discuses proposed policies for poverty reduction in China.
1,630 words (approx. 6.5 pages), 4 sources, MLA, $ 53.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
This paper stresses that, although many economists point to China's rapidly growing economy and decreasing poverty rate, the figures on poverty in the country are still alarming, especially in the rural areas. The author points out that policy measures focusing on local poor regions should include promoting growth of resource improvement, rural education, labor issues and health, especially as sickness issues are one of the primary factors driving China's rural poverty. The paper relates that the bulk of poverty reduction techniques for China should involve taxation, international aid and the abolishment of the vast rural-urban segmentation characteristic of China, a situation that is being exacerbated by China's growing industrialization. The paper includes several quotations.

Table of Contents:
Introduction
Poverty in China: Background
Poverty in China: Important Issues for Address
Policy Measures for Improving China's Poverty
Conclusion

From the Paper
"It is an unarguable fact that China's poverty problem is primarily rural. China is generally being effective in reducing its absolute poverty; however, relative poverty appears to be increasing. China's spread of poverty is highly regional. ... China's widening economic disparity is generally thought to exist owing to reform and structural changes within the nation that shifted "central planning to markets and from agriculture to manufacturing and services, and opening up to international trade and knowledge transfer." The nation showcases a distinctive lack of rural job opportunities under a climate of increasing industrialization."

Abstract
This paper looks at whether or not mercury poisoning causes malformations in young children. There is some evidence for brain damage in fetuses from mercury which crosses the placenta and the blood-brain barrier, but there is no conclusive evidence on malformations caused by mercury poisoning. Mercury is a neurotoxin, so most of its affects are within the nervous system.

The Proposal Development Process, 2007.
This paper examines the design and development of a proposal's budget.
1,188 words (approx. 4.8 pages), 3 sources, MLA, $ 40.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
The proposal examined in this research relates to a hypothetical diversity development program complete with its own budget. The paper discusses the proposal development process and the four elements of design:contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity. The paper focuses on how these and other proposal development techniques apply directly to the budgeting process of proposal development.

Outline:
Overview
Proposal and Budget
Principles of Design
Conclusion

From the Paper
"The type of budget utilized in this case is an itemized budget which best suits the proposal as it relates to planning. Because the proposal is part of the planning process for a diversity development program rather than an implementation plan or research document discussing the characteristics of diversity, it is more closely associated with a planning type of proposal. The itemization of all costs and expenses as well as the relative return on investment (ROI) for such a planning proposal are best illustrated through the application of an itemized budget which allows are parties to easily identify costs and expenses (Developing, 2005). It also allows responsible parties to more accurately identify areas that may be inclined to cost overruns."

Abstract
This grant proposal discusses the benefits of creating a program to prevent drug abuse among youths and and proposes an exact allocation of the grant money. The proposal also shows a timeline on how and when the author's department plans on spending the grant money and includes a detailed summary of all the costs involved in this kind of a program. The paper concludes that the overall benefits of this program will result in a noticeable reduction in drug abuse among the teenage population by disrupting the illicit drug trafficking organizations within the community, denying street dealers a customer base, reducing the number of emergency room admissions related to drug abuse and overdose, and establishing a strong anti-drug abuse program within all the schools within the community.

Outline:

From the Paper
"Our department is committed to establishing, creating, and encouraging anti-drug programs such as D.A.R.E. in our communities at public and private schools, to home-school teachers and students, and to the general public. Our outreach program will start in the communities' schools; since a larger impact is imprinted in elementary, junior high, and high schools. We are committed to reaching out to children, teens, and the general public through flyers, pamphlets, meetings, seminars, and D.A.R.E. hotlines. Lastly, we are dedicated to inform children and teens of the dangers of drugs, gangs, and violence (encourage community policing); in addition to encouraging teachers, parents, and students to attend the 21st Annual D.A.R.E. International Training Conference in San Antonio, Texas on August 12-14, 2008 at The Alamo. Abstract
This paper, in the form of a memo, is a comprehensive analysis and proposal for implementation of an information technology plan for XXX Corporation. It explains how the company does not take advantage of the many innovative technological advances available in relation to selling women?s cosmetics using information technology. It also discusses how the IT plan will provide a framework and set of strategies for the utilization and management of information technology at the company.

From the Paper
"The plan first involves a study and review of emerging technologies related to the cosmetic industries, in an attempt to assess where our company has fallen behind in the race to advance technology. The primary role of information technology is to support the business plan. The current business plan for our company includes maintaining a competitive stance in the cosmetics industry as well as possible expansion into outlying and untapped markets over the next few years. Currently the company does not use a database or process information locally or nationally on a shared server. If our organization establishes an intranet, and makes our product information and purchasing options available over an easily accessible server, more sales representatives and agents will be able to quickly and efficiently access the most up to date information regarding product availability, status and description. Currently representatives rely on paper manuals and files to research products. By placing all of this information on a server and allowing reps to access it from any locality, sales and revenues will be greatly increased, thus coinciding with the overall goals of the business plan."

Abstract
This research proposal takes a look at a scenario whereby a physician's office is informed of a forecasted drop in annual revenue. The paper illustrates the changes in organizational structure that will be proposed to the Board in order to address this reduction in revenue. The paper also discusses the rationale for these proposed changes.

Outline:
Scenario
Introduction
Identification of Organizational Structural Changes
Rationale
Summary & Proposed Organization Structural Adjustment
Conclusion

From the Paper
"The 15% decrease in revenue might possibly be addressed through seeking alternative staffing options. The possibility of adding physicians to the organization was researched and in the process of that research the work entitled: "The Nurse Practitioner in Managed Care Organizations" was reviewed and revealed was the practicality of hiring a Nurse Practitioner. Healthcare quality and cost-effectiveness are essential goals of a managed care organization. Reduction of overhead in the physician's office may be accomplished through the hiring of Nurse Practitioners thereby increasing the caseload of the physician office yet without burdening the practice with the salary of additional physicians. In the article entitled: "The Nurse Practitioner in Managed Care Organizations" it is stated that: "In terms of practice revenue, NPs cost 40% less than physicians and were particularly cost-effective in preventive care with their expertise in counseling, patient/client education and case management (Appleby, 1995; as cited by AANP, 1997) Nurse Practitioners at the Community Health Services which is sponsored by Vanderbilt is stated to have: "delivered health care at 23% below the average cost of other primary care providers with a 21% reduction in hospital inpatient rates." (AANP, 1997) The American Association of Nurse Practitioners report states that: "Accessible primary care with an emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion is a key component of reduced health care costs. (Hardy-Havens & Evans, 1995; Hardy-Havens, et al, 1996)"

Abstract
This paper examines how Jonathan Swift?s ?Modest Proposal? is a short story that offers a solution to the poverty and desperation than ran rampant throughout Ireland in the 1700s as a result of the conflict between the Irish and the English. It looks at how, in the story, Swift discusses the terrible economic conditions of the peasantry in Ireland and how British administrators viewed this poverty as a nuisance. It also shows how the lack of conviction of the English court to resolve the growing problem inspired Swift to write this satire, which is subtle in its attack of the ruling class.

From the Paper
"According to the narrator, eating the impoverished children would solve the problem of population among the Catholics. In addition, it would help the poor people get wealthier, since they would have valuable commodities to sell in exchange for shelter and luxuries. According to the narrator, ? The poorer tenants will have something valuable of their own, which by law may be made liable to distress and help to pay their landlord's rent, their corn and cattle being already seized, and money a thing unknown (Swift, 1989).? The plan would also benefit the economy as a whole since less money would be spent on raising so many poor children."

"One of the most basic human needs is the need for sex. It serves many purposes including the ability to procreate, the feeling of love and warmth, physical gratification and other things that make up the whole of human life. Sexual function is a basic need for society today, and is considered by many to be as important as food and air. Sexual dysfunction can come in many forms, but the inability to perform sexually can cause emotional and psychological problems that in turn have a negative impact on other areas of one?s life. Sexual dysfunction is something that is rarely discussed because of the very importance that society places on the ability to function. Sexual dysfunction can be treated once the person who has it allows treatment and is open about the problem?s existence."

In the past, businesses reduced costs through devices such as downsizing and corporate re-structuring. Today, however, labor has become an asset that can no longer be cut without creating adverse affects on productivity, quality and efficiency. Because of this, the objective for many organizations today has become to be as efficient as possible through the use of new Information Systems."
