Toni Morrison's Revision of Beauty, 2007.

Abstract
The paper discusses Malin LaVon Walther's three cogent arguments about the theme of beauty in Pecola's society in her article "Out of Sight: Toni Morrison's Revision of Beauty". The paper describes how Walther clearly demonstrates the damage done by white standards of beauty to African Americans.

From the Paper
"Walther's primary argument is that, in Pecola's society, white consumerist culture determines the standards of beauty. She believes these standards are learned primarily through the movies. For instance, Mr. Henry compliments Claudia and Frieda by comparing them to Greta Garbo and Ginger Rogers. Pauline is also deeply affected by what she sees on the big screen. During pregnancy, she watches movies as means of escaping the misery of her life. Whenever Pauline judges her own beauty, she must look to white actresses as means of comparison. Thus, Walther states that Pauline heavily internalizes an artificial and in-absolute beauty scale from white culture."

Raymond Carver: What Comes from Revision, 2001.
An analysis of how revision completely changed the works of Raymond Carver.

Abstract
This paper analyzes how revision affected the works of Raymond Carver: "The Bath" and "A Small Good Thing". The analysis includes an explanation of numerous techniques that Raymond Carver used.

From the Paper
"Revision: the despised word to students who have worked endlessly on a project. However, some people treat revision like a holy ritual. Revision is the process that can take organized ideas and turn them into a work of art. One revision is almost never enough to create a masterpiece. The revisions Raymond Carver did to The Bath while creating A Small, Good Thing are proof that revision can take something simple, turn it around, and create a masterpiece. "

Feminist Revision, 2008.
This paper compares and discusses two works about women: Gustave Flaubert's 'Madame Bovary' and Kate Chopin's 'The Awakening'.

Abstract
In this article, the writer notes that works about women written by men are frequently compared to later works written by women. There is a clear line of reasoning in many cases that the later works are attempts by women to seek redress for the manner in which their gender was depicted in the earlier work. The writer points out that there is a clear sense that two works that deserve comparison on this theme are Gustave Flaubert's 'Madame Bovary' and the much shorter novella Kate Chopin's 'The Awakening'. In both works the point of view and lead character are that of a woman, seeking redress in a provincial world for a life that did not meet the expectations she had set for herself or her life in her youth. The writer maintains that to argue that 'The Awakening' is a feminist revision of 'Madame Bovary', requires a deeper analysis of plot and scenes within the works as well as narrative style and method and lastly the representation of the heroine in each work.

From the Paper
"Her last moments of life are spent in fear, as she sees an old blind poet, from her past standing near her window. Her death scene is then followed closely by funereal preparations and many descriptive details, described to her husband of the vast level of degradation she had experienced prior to her death. The point of view, switches contemptuously from Emma to her husband who unravels her infidelity and lack of providence, bit by bit, changing the perception of her death and her life accordingly.
"In comparison, Edna, in The Awakening takes her life by swimming into the gulf to far for any chance of return, has a clean introspective death, where she discovers herself and challenges her roles. She came to the realization that she no longer had longing fro her own life, and she had been unable to fulfill her desires as an independent artist."

Abstract

The paper also briefly looks at the overall costs of these systems.

From the Paper
"Besides the servers, the actual POS devices are needed and networking these devices will also entail cost. POS systems devices range from as low as $2,000.00 to $8,000.00 - again depending on how simple or how high tech the clothes store owner want. Another consideration is how many POS stations will be deployed in the store. If the store is big, more than one POS station is required. Networking all the hardware systems will vary depending upon the square footage of the store. It is important for the clothes store owner to canvass different networking service providers to determine the best cost in implementing the store's network environment."

Masculine Revisioning in Kenneth Branagh's "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein", 2002.
This paper detects the deviations Kenneth Branagh instills into Mary Shelley's seminal work in his 1994 film adaptation reflect his own attempts at "masculinizing" her seminal work.

Abstract
The essay uses psychoanalysis as a method of comparative discourse, in order to see more clearly the variances and motives between Shelley's and Branagh's texts. The author claims that while Branagh's adaptation affords perhaps the most accurate retelling of the plot of Shelley's text, the lens by which he interprets the tale bends the focus, elaborating upon certain underlying narratives while suppressing or overlooking others. The essay maintains that "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" demonstrates an attempt to revise and rewrite the story in order to place emphasis on more culturally masculine concerns and anxieties, and is far from being the definitive cinematic imagining of Shelley's work. Moreover, he feels that by looking closely at key deviations in Branagh's interpretation and presentation, one can observe a systematic re-envisioning which seeks to displace and usurp Shelley's argument against masculine ideals.

From the Paper
"Stephen Behrendt contends that Victor Frankenstein and his monster reflect Mary Shelley's anxiety over the public role of authorship in a male-dominated society. As objects of discourse, women were continually reminded of their "proper" and "natural" place in private familial and public extrafamilial interaction" (Behrendt 71). Victor's "unnatural" process of creation a man assuming the maternal role of biological life-giver mirrors Shelley's socially constructed sense that she behaved unnaturally in assuming the role of artistic creator. Victor's hysteria and the Creature's disfigurement embody Shelley's horror at her own articulation a horror unconsciously generated by the dictums of a patriarchal world. Victor demonstrates his hysteria when he confesses that "a kind of enthusiastic frenzy had blinded me to the horror of my employment; my mind was intently fixed on the consummation of my labour, and my eyes were shut to the horror of my proceedings" (Shelley 162). A Needed Ideology for China in the Early 21st Century, 2006.

Abstract
This paper argues that the current system of leadership in China will prevail, with minor adjustments, as long as it provides order, a sense of progress and leadership. China is discussed as an unique civilization that carries over influences of the past, not the least of which are Confucian models of authority, morality and the strong society as one that unites and directs.

From the Paper
"China is discussed as a civilization, not a mere country or empire, whose political heritage differs from that of the West. The group is valued ahead of the individual as can give an impression of low political development to the foreign observer. Through time, China has had various forms of Platonic rule with those too harsh or incapable falling to rebellion or other violence, the people willing to tolerate a good deal till a point of excess that brings collapse."

From the Paper
"The eager freshman English writer comes to the process of composition with many pre-conceived, previously successful methods for editing a first draft. A favorite teacher's well-intentioned message, a parent's unskilled assessment, or the student's own perceptions can stymie the editorial and revision process."

Abstract
The paper discusses the Genocide Convention and examines whether the Convention is still relevant as the foremost legal instrument dealing with the most heinous crime known to mankind. The paper analyzes the Convention as it stands, and whether it is indeed in urgent need of revision.

Outline:
The Genocide Convention
Background To Genocide Convention
Analysis of the Convention
Advantages of the Convention
Disadvantages of the Convention
Revision Of Convention
Definition of Genocide

From the Paper
"Since the end of the Cold War, genocide has been coming under increasing scrutiny, as sociologists focus on the many shortcomings of the Convention . The Convention is concerned with both punishment and prevention. The former aspect has attracted most attention , whilst it has generally been perceived that the latter aim has failed to be realised. When the Convention was drafted, the crime was primarily committed against groups of people because of their ethnic, religious or racial backgrounds, usually by the territorial state .
"The concept of formally prosecuting them was at that time revolutionary, and Lemkin had considerable opposition against his proposed definitions and legislation. Lemkin, as an academic, wanted a drafting reflecting his stance of 'no-tolerance', whilst the states wanted clauses that would not compel them to intervene, or prevent them from any course of action they may wish to pursue. These conflicting objectives gave rise to the present Convention, and need to be kept in mind whilst examining it."

The Genocide Convention, 2005.

Abstract
The paper examines three key areas in which the Genocide Convention has been frequently criticised: the limited scope of its definition of genocide; the significant difficulties associated with its 'special intent' requirement and its ineffective system of enforcement. The paper explains that the Convention was a product of the post-WWII era and its flaws stem clearly from policy issues of that time. The paper maintains that this provides a solid justification for revision of the Convention nowadays.

Outline:
Abstract
The Limited Scope of the Definition of Genocide
The 'Special Intent' Requirement
Enforcement of the Convention
Conclusion

From the Paper
"In 1944 Raphael Lemkin, a Polish Professor of International Law coined the term 'genocide' and then campaigned relentlessly to have it recognised as an international criminal offence after losing many family members to the Holocaust . His action combined with the "universal moral revulsion" felt towards the atrocities committed by the Nazi regime led to the Genocide Convention being drafted in 1948; however, universal condemnation of the recent past and the demonstration of a global commitment to a future which would be based upon the concept of human rights necessitated widespread acceptance of the treaty terms by U.N member states - this was of course especially so in the case of the major powers."

Insights into the Child Welfare System, 2007.
An analysis of the areas that call for attention in terms of revision within the child welfare system (CWS).
3,081 words (approx. 12.3 pages), 15 sources, MLA, $ 90.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
This paper presents a welfare professional's insights into the child welfare system (CWS). The paper explains that the welfare professional was a foster child herself and then goes on to describe three areas that call for attention in terms of revision within CWS: These issues concern systems thinking and the interrelatedness of all CWS decisions, cultural issues in CWS dealings relating to both structural inequality and diversity theories and organizational structure issues, which are relevant in both leadership and change theories and organizational change theories.

From the Paper
"Finally, changes in the organizational structure and overall running protocol of CWS agencies will allow improvements in the system. Expecting and fostering accountability will create an environment of strength and security, greatly improving the chances of success for CWS clients. Additional collaboration with outside and connected organizations will provide support and insight while maintaining that accountability through open expectations and goal sharing with those agencies. Most importantly, these changes must occur while moving CWS toward a flat organizational structure. This will address current structural and bureaucratic problems while increasing inter-agency communication. Reducing levels of management will also allow management to work more closely with "front line" staff and improve quality of care."

Abstract
"This paper provides a response to a memo made by a CEO of a major corporation in which he demanded that all employees begin working more than 40 hours a week. This assignment contains a revision of his memo which stresses the value of the worker. The writer also provides a two-page summary of why this revision was needed to change the relationship that the CEO forged with his employees.

From the Paper
"You are aware that we are in a difficult economic climate. Currently, we face a position in which our company must evaluate our priorities if we are able to preserve the jobs of our valued staff and workers at every level of our corporate hierarchy. These conditions are beyond our control, and you must recognize that if we could ensure that profitability was minimized in terms of affecting our decisions, than we would go to great measures to ensure that this would come to pass. However, this is not to be. As a for-profit company, we are driven to meet specific goals within productivity in order to ensure that profitability is maximized."

From the Paper
"The purpose of this research is to examine the widespread dissatisfaction of citizens, students and teachers with the present public school system and to describe various proposed reforms, including content revision, parental involvement, vouchers, and educational technology.

As the school system became increasingly institutionalized and omnipresent during the past century, criticism of it from all those concerned has also grown rapidly. Supported by taxpayers and the receptacle for millions of involuntarily attending children, the school affects nearly everyone to some degree. Its faults and failures are apparent and equally far-reaching although the solutions are less obvious.
Citizens, and parents in particular, have leveled several criticisms at the public school system in the past decades."
