Abstract
This paper reviews the basic philosophy and principles of the concept of differentiated learning for students. The paper also provides a personal interpretation of the idea, as well as suggestions for putting differentiated learning into practice in the classroom.
Outline:
Introduction: My philosophy of Inclusion
My Philosophy of Differentiating Instruction
The Instructional Strategies I would use in my Classroom
The Behavior Management I would use in my Classroom
Lesson Plan
Conclusion
From the Paper
"One of the most effective aspects of using group learning techniques is that it forces students to take responsibility not just for their own grades and learning, but for the performance of their fellow students. Students would be graded upon their own, individual contributions, but they could not let down their fellow group participants. They would have to complete their task, and as the task was within their framework of ability, this would not seem too daunting. Another suggested method of behavior management to ensure student compliance with assignments is to instate a points system, whereby a student can earn a maximum number of points for performing specific diverse tasks relating to a unit, which they can select themselves and tailor to their own interests and levels of ability."

Abstract
The paper relates that children vary in their ability to acquire information and have different learning styles. The paper examines the tool of differentiating instruction, which means developing multiple avenues of learning, so students with different abilities, interests or educational needs have the opportunity to equally absorb, develop and present concepts and information. The paper explores how differentiated instruction can be incorporated into the reading, writing and speaking curricula.
From the Paper
"According to Carol Ann Tomlinson, a specialist in the field of differentiated learning, teachers can best utilize three areas of the curriculum to develop a more flexible curriculum: content, process, and products. Content refers to the concepts, principles, and skills teachers want students to learn. Everyone should have access to the core content: Give struggling learners the same major ideas as their classmates, but adjust the degree of complexity. Teachers can explain the same concept, such as Shakespearean sonnets, to a very young child or a Ph.D. candidate."

Abstract
This paper examines how, by differentiating instruction, the educator can recognize that learners vary in their background, experience, intelligence, knowledge, language, interests, learning styles and unique abilities. It looks at how differentiated instruction provides an approach to learning tailored to individuals of differing capabilities in the same classroom.
From the Paper
"Tomlinson explains that classrooms have not changed much over the past century. Teachers still act as if all children of a certain age are at the same level of learning and have similar backgrounds and interests. Also, the schools believe that all students must complete the assignments and projects and the same time. Thus, each student uses the same text book, reads the same sections, answers the same questions and takes the same tests. Grading and assessment is similar for each pupil, as well, despite the differences in abilities and interests among the students. "

Abstract
This paper analyzes and discusses the relationship among heat, thermal energy, and temperature, which tend to be confused with each other. The paper discusses the role of heat in human culture, noting that in addition to using heat to cook food, iron clothes, and keep warm, humans have learned to convert heat to other forms of energy. The paper explains that heat is the transfer of thermal energy from a substance with higher temperature to a substance with lower temperature so that their temperatures will be normalized or reach equilibrium, while the amount of thermal energy contained within a substance depends on the substance's mass, nature and state of matter. The paper adds that temperature only measures the average kinetic energy that each molecule has based on its motion. In conclusion, the paper restates that heat, thermal energy, and temperature are related with each other but are used differently.
Outline:
Matter and the Arrangement of Molecules
Thermal Energy and Kinetic Theory of Matter
Thermal Energy and Temperature
The Concept of Heat
Ways of Heat Transfer
Specific Heat Capacity of Substances
Summary
References
From the Paper
"Since different substances have different thermal energies due to their mass, nature and state, different substances also will require different amounts of heat in order for it to change in temperature. This is because different substances or materials have different heat capacities. Each substance has its own specific ability to capture or retain heat. Specific heat capacity of matter is therefore the measure of the amount of thermal energy that is needed to be transferred to it so that the temperature of a kilogram of that substance will increase by one degree Celsius (Hirsch 2006. p 150)."

Abstract
This paper examines different types of market structures in a market economy. The paper specifically discusses the different goods available in an economy and explores each good to understand its role in the economy. The paper deals with public and private goods, monopolies, competitive monopoly and oligipoly. Finally, the paper discusses the United States Department of Defense (DoD) and the factors that influence the labor supply and demand for defense contracting.
From the Paper
"Factors that influence the labor supply and demand for Defense Contracting are numerable, very detailed, and somewhat tricky. A quick summary would conclude that the supply of contract labor is extremely high due to the profitability of the contracts themselves, but the labor market of this industry is far from a state of equilibrium as the actual supply is far greater than the demand. The supply for contract labor is limited to the organizations that have been authorized to provide it but the list of organizations that wish to obtain authorization is extremely long, making the actual supply of contract labor even larger than it would initially seem. While the demand for Defense Contract Labor is high due in part to the conflict in the Middle East, it is not nearly enough to meet the supply of willing contractors that are motivated by the extreme profitability of the Defense Industry. Another factor that influences both the supply and the demand is the need for skilled (specialized) labor. The high demand for contract labor specialization influences the supply of the labor because not all workers have the necessary skills to meet the performance standards of the DoD."

Abstract
The paper looks at the relationship between constructivist philosophy and differential instruction and how each aids the other. The paper explores the importance of classroom teachers understanding the factors that impact classroom and individual learning and also looks at the implications that arise from teachers recognizing the importance of individual and environmental factors in the development of youngsters. Lastly, the paper looks at a number of monitoring strategies and organizational strategies that make possible appropriate individualized instruction - and also ensure that cultural and gender differences are appreciated. The paper concludes that no classroom lacking in differentiated instruction will be a successful one - and no teacher can offer optimal instruction to his or her pupils without implementing a program that recognizes differences among children.
From the Paper
"There can little question that teaching today is much more difficult than it was even a generation ago. For one thing, the contemporary elementary school classroom is more diverse, meaning the teacher must be able to communicate with students from a wide variety of backgrounds. As well, the expectations for teachers are greater: teachers today must be accommodating to many different learning styles and able to appreciate the many factors - family environment, health, socio-economic condition, and community structure/environment - that shape young learners. With that in mind, the following paper will explore a host of things. To start with,..."

Abstract
The paper discusses two contrasting theories of education; one that is presented by Plato in his "Republic" and the contemporary method known as differentiated instruction. The paper explains that Plato's streaming focused on the life long prescribed learning of a class of rulers or guardians for his "Republic." The paper then explains that differentiated instruction, by contrast, is a democratically oriented philosophy and method of education in which teachers adapt learning for different students.
From the Paper
"Differentiated Instruction: A form of instruction that seeks to "maximize each student's growth by meeting each student where she is and helping the student to progress. In practice, it involves offering several different learning experiences in response to students' varied needs. Learning activities and materials may be varied by difficulty to challenge students at different readiness levels, by topic in response to students' interests, and by students' preferred ways of learning or expressing themselves" (Kiernan as cited in ASCD, 2007).
