Why is the Notebook Cooler Industry so Successful?
From the Paper
"The first notebook computer was introduced in 1981, and was very expensive and far less versatile than they are today. IBM and Epsom offered mass produced versions to the market in 1983. Even with the initial expansion, notebooks continued to be associated with high profile businessmen, who could afford them and used them more for show than for actual utility.
"The advent of the Microsoft Operating System Windows 95 in 1995 precipitated the explosion of the notebook computer. At this point the widespread use and adaptability of the Windows 95 OS combined with advances in laptop technology to make laptops accessible to all consumers, and also helped consumers sustain profession workspace processes on a widescale basis. This of course was accompanied by a drop in prices. Advances include better batteries that no longer required acid, power saving notebook so batteries lasted longer, and the ability to hold more data for executive functioning."

Abstract
The paper discusses how in 1994, Joan Hoff published an article in the "Women's History Review," provocatively entitled "Gender as a Postmodern Category of Paralysis." The article lived up to its provocative title, as it was in fact a blistering attack on postmodernist thinkers and specifically on feminist postmodernists. Not surprisingly, the article provoked anger and controversy and gave rise to a heated debate, conducted in scholarly journals (which are usually devoted to somewhat cooler debates). While some academics, such as Caroline Ramazanoglu, agreed with Hoff, the paper points out that others were singularly under-impressed by Hoff's attack.

Abstract
The writer of this paper introduces, discusses and analyzes the effects of tornadoes, one of the deadliest atmospheric conditions known to man. This paper also details the event of May 30, 1998 in which a tornado hit the small town of Spencer, North Dakota. This paper examines the differences between tornadoes, hurricanes and cyclones. Tornadoes differ from hurricanes in that they form over land, while hurricanes form over water. This paper explores how tornadoes develop as well as the atmospheric conditions that must occur to form tornadoes, including vast thermal instability, high humidity and the meeting of warm, moist air at low levels with cooler, drier air above. The writer also examines a recent trend, called storm chasing which has become a popular, recreational sport. Professional storm chasers include meteorologists and scientists who study storms to try to discover how to predict them earlier and understand just how they form.
From the Paper
"The National Weather Service (NWS) does have certain criteria that indicate certain weather patterns that spawn tornadoes. When these patterns occur, the NWS does issue "tornado watches," which can be upgraded to tornado warnings if the conditions persist or intensify. A warning tells people that a tornado may be imminent and they should take shelter immediately. Experts recommend that small, interior rooms are the best for shelter in the event of a tornado. Basements are good, but people should stay away from windows in any part of the house. Hiding under a heavy piece of furniture can also be a good idea. People are more educated about tornadoes than they were, and so they are better at protecting themselves when tornadoes strike. Many large cities have underground tornado shelters that help save many lives each year."

Abstract
This paper explains that the original inhabitants of Venezuela were the Caribs and the Arawaks, who inhabited the regions extending from the South American mainland to the Caribbean archipelago. The author points out that there are only two seasons in Venezuela--the wet season from May to November and a dry season; the average temperatures are temperate ranging between 70F and 85F year round but the mountains often record much cooler temperatures. The paper relates that the Venezuelan economy is dominated by petroleum products; ninety-five percent of the country's exports and 30 percent of its gross national product are petroleum related.
From the Paper
"It was on Christopher Columbus' third voyage, in 1498, that he first spotted Venezuela, after landing on Trinidad, which lies across the Gulf of Paria from the Venezuelan coast. He ventured to the mainland a few days later and declared the region for Spain as a Spanish colony. Twenty-four years later, the first permanent Spanish settlement, Nuevo Toledo, was established. After many years of struggle, in 1830, Venezuela finally became a sovereign country."

From the paper:
"Robinson endured many slights and insults while playing professional baseball. When the Brooklyn Dodgers called him up from their farm club, the president of the Philadelphia Phillies announced that their team would not play the Dodgers as long as Robinson was part of the team. The St. Louis Cardinals threatened to strike. Cooler heads prevailed, and Jackie Robinson played ball. (Mims, 1995)."

Wine coolers and new malt liquor products have become popular recently among young females. These sweet and fruity drinks are marketed deliberately to young drinkers who typically don't like the taste of beer. Many teenagers don't realize that these products contain more alcohol than regular beer. "Alcohol Use Among Teenagers" says that Junior/middle and senior high school students drink 35% of all wine coolers sold in the United States; they also consume 1.1 billion cans of beer."
