Abstract The paper reveals that despite the general opinion that most Loyalists were the representatives of the rich people, in fact they were part of the entire American society. The paper explores three reasons why Loyalists fought against the creation of the United States. The paper discusses how many felt they needed the British Empire's stability and order in the colonies, they also had economic reasons and finally, Loyalists were afraid for themselves as individuals if Britain would prevail and punish them for contributing in any way to the Revolution.
From the Paper "The American Revolution is considered to be one of the most important events in the history of the American people. In most cases it is considered to be an essential stage in the formation of the American nationality and culture. It was a desire for independence from the British Empire. However, although the ideal was the creation of a new state, not all the forces in the colonies militated for such a breakup with the British Empire. These were the Loyalists which fought against the creation of the United States and against the Revolution."
