Abstract
This paper is in the form of a report to the Ministry of Education in Canada, describing the positive aspects of k-8 co-ed sports. Various reasons for this outlook are presented, which include the narrow performance gap between K-8 boys and girls and the necessity for boys and girls to socialize in structured ways. The conclusion is that K-8 co-ed sports are unlikely to be physically or emotionally bruising to either sex and, in fact, are likely to serve positive developmental purposes.
From the Paper
"This report surveys recreational and sociological data on the topic of K-8 sports, and argues in favor of a co-ed approach. One reason from each domain favoring co-ed participation will be given; the narrow performance gap between K-8 boys and girls (physiology); and the necessity for boys and girls to socialize in structured ways (sociology). The conclusion is that K-8 co-ed sports are unlikely to be physically or emotionally bruising to either sex and, in fact, are likely to serve positive developmental purposes. The Ontario..."

Abstract
This paper discusses the likelihood of the provinces in Canada co-operating with each other to get more out of the Federal government. The paper looks at the physical and political geography of the country and then argues that co-operation between the provinces will be unlikely, based on the fact that Canada is highly regionalized.
From the Paper
"Regional Co-operation in Canada? Canada is a country in which regionalism is king. Each region is so different that regionalism has become the central characteristic of Canadian political geography. In The Challenge of Regionalism Greg Anderson describes the Canadian regions as, Atlantic Canada, including Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and Labrador; Quebec; Ontario; the Prairie West, including Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta; British Columbia; and the Far North. Such divisions are arbitrary and do not Reflect the many nuances of each of these regions(Anderson 2003: 26)."

Abstract
The paper relates that the family as a unit is not a static social unit but rather a dynamic group of individuals who interact with each other in dyads that involve the parents, the parent and child and siblings. The paper explains that conflicts are an inevitable part of these relationships and peak during adolescence, when their reasoning faculties become more formal and start to doubt the infallibility of parents and older siblings. However, the paper shows how conflict resolution can be achieved by ensuring that both parties reach a "win-win" compromise by different methods of negotiation utilized in different social scenarios outside of the family unit.

This paper explains that the job of parenting is both rewarding and demanding and then looks at ways for improving parenting skills. The paper includes parenting tips and tricks as well as a discussion on improving children's socialization and coping skills.
From the Paper
"According to Kim Selzman, writing in "Woman's Day", being a parent can be a joy but it's also a tough job. Nobody is perfect and every parent makes mistakes. Children require a lot of time and energy so being a good parent means that parents must take care of themselves physically. Selzman adds that everyone needs a break from being a parent once in a while. If someone is a single parent they can and should find friends or relatives to help them get some time for..."

Abstract
The paper looks at Amara Parenting and Adoption Services, an organization that has existed in Washington since 1921 ("Amara Parenting", 2007, para. 1). The paper discusses how the organization has evolved over time, first serving the community as an "orphanage and home for unwed mothers" ("Amara Parenting", 2007, para. 3). The paper then relates that over time, that agency focused on placing the children that were cared for in foster home situations, eventually developing the philosophy that permanent homes were the optimal solution for children that could not return to their homes of origin. Yet, the paper discusses how the existence of the organization in the community has allowed it to be considered a constant support for children and parents considering adoption, and it is an organization that continues to "evolve with the changing needs of society" ("Amara", n.d., sec. 2).

Abstract
This paper looks at parenting styles and subsequent self-esteem in college students, with a focus on the theories of Diana Baumrind. According to the paper, Baumrind offered three broad typologies for parental interaction with the child. She argued that there were 3 scales that needed to be conceptualized by academics before they could understand parental styles, which are highlighted in the paper. Today, we can conceive of three broad types of parenting style that have their origins in Baumrind's pioneering work.
From the Paper
"This paper looks at parenting styles and subsequent self-esteem in college students. Diana Baumrind offered, in the middle-1960s, her own broad typology for parental interaction with the child. She argued that there were 3 scales that needed to be conceptualized by academics before they could understand parental styles. Those three were: 1) acceptance of the child and involvement; 2) control of the child (maturity); and 3) autonomy-granting style (self-reliance). Today, we can conceive of three broad types of parenting style that have their origins in Baumrind's..."

Abstract
This paper analyzes a specific parenting strategy and examines the changes which have transpired in the "profession" of parenting over the past fifty years. The paper shows that as society changes so do expectations and opportunities change for parents and their relationship to their children.
From the Paper
"Parenting would have to be considered the second oldest profession. It probably began some nine months after the first oldest profession. Given its age, one would believe that it has gone through many changes. Many biologists start defining human parenting by pointing out that the parents provide for and raise their offspring. Many species don't, humans do...most of the time."

Abstract
A comparison of the dysfunction in the two families portrayed in David Adams Richards "Nights Below Station Street" and Ann-Marie MacDonald's "Fall On Your Knees." The paper argues that the former family achieves redemption through their love but the latter suffers attrition and cannot overcome their high level of dysfunctional interaction.
From the Paper
"Family dysfunction typically characterizes family relations to one degree or another in most families. However, in David Adams Richards' "Nights Below Station Street" and Ann-Marie MacDonald's "Fall On Your Knees," if it were not for family dysfunction the families depicted would not function at all. Richards provides a tale of the Walsh's, a working-class family from the wrong side of the tracks in a small mill town in New Brunswick."
