This paper presents a sample individual education plan (IEP) for a Grade 5 student previously in treatment for ADHD and rediagnosed as suffering from major depression in the aftermath of a significant loss. According to the paper, ADHD students are prone to major depression. Educational staff should be aware of this and adjust to new the diagnosis and slightly different modifications. The paper concludes by calling for collaboration between child's physician, mother, teacher, teacher's assistant and possibly the school psychologist.

(2004) Students with disabilities, illnesses, or in particular life circumstances can be provided with an IEP in order to accommodate particular difficulties, see them through years of school in which they are beset by illness or injury as temporary conditions, or when school must otherwise be adapted to life events.
