Abstract This article discusses the marketing of the sunscreens/repellents Bug and Sun by Coppertone. The writer compares the marketing of these products in Omaha, Nebraska and in Anaheim, California. In this paper, the writer examines the marketing strategies for each of the markets. In this analysis of the various marketing strategies, the writer includes the impact of climate differences.
From the Paper "When companies decide to market the same product in different locations, they need to take into account the differences in demand in each market. One of the first decisions these companies make is whether the product will have sufficient demand in various markets to make its widespread availability worthwhile. This is commonly done when companies take on international marketing, but may be less rigorous when the product is being marketed in a single country. This research considers the marketing strategies for a ..."

Abstract This paper explains that Annie Dillard's essay on "The Giant Water Bug" begins as an example of nonfiction, meditative nature writing and ends with a murder---of the frog. The author points out that,to convey a sense of meandering in her thoughts and her walking path while she watches the frog, Dillard uses long sentences and often repeats words, particularly adjectives. The paper relates that the injection of biological language suggests a sharp change in narrative tone and a reminder of the scientific aspects of nature and natural survival.
From the Paper "Nature's real ugliness injects itself into the homespun narratives about frogs. A lower life form begins to devour a higher life form. The giant water bug that the author had only read about and appreciated in an academic sense rears its ugly head. She knows it "eats insects, tadpoles, fish, and frogs." But suddenly its presence injects drama into the descriptive passage. Now the fear and ominous nature of the passage's description of the frog's skin, its fear, and the occasional use of biological vocabulary becomes all comes together."
Abstract This research paper briefly describes the Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter (GWSS) of California. The paper provides a detailed description of the bug and its native habitat. The paper also describes the ways in which the bug is a danger to various crops, particularly focusing on its unique colours.
From the Paper "Research Paper: The Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter Bug This research paper will briefly describe the Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter (GWSS) of California. By providing a detailed description of the bug and its native habitat, one can realize the danger of this bug to various crops. In essence, the Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter represents a thriving and charismatic insect, yet a danger to the crops that grow in its native Californian and Arizonian habitat. The unique colors and form of the Winged-Glassy Sharpshooter give hints as to why its name has been widely used. Although its formal name is Latin scientific name is Homalodisca coagulata, the glass-winged aspect of the bug's name relates more to the physical look of it shiny wings. The University of California describes the insect in detail: A large insect almost 1/2 inch (12 mm) long the glassy-winged sharpshooter is dark brown to black with a lighter underside. "
Abstract This paper is an in-depth examination of the characters and philosophy behind the characters and transformations that take place in Frank Kafka's work, "Metamorphosis." The main character in the story, Greg, is transformed into a bug, and his life over the three months that his body takes this form is examined in detail. The author illustrates how Kafka uses the bug form that he takes on as a metaphor for all of the problems and frustrations he has been experiencing in his daily life.
From the Paper "Imagine waking up one morning and suddenly you are a bug. Last night, when you went to sleep you were an ordinary man. Today, you?re a bug. Gregor Samsa does just that, and suddenly his life is thrown completely off track. No longer is he the sole breadwinner for his mother, father and sister. He is now the burden that they have been to him. His mundane job as a traveling salesman has been replaced with the confusing life he lives as a bug. It is this image of the bug he has become that is the focus of Frank Kafka, and it is the bug that represents Gregor's ultimate desire to no longer bear the responsibility of a family, and what eventually brings his family's true character to light."
Abstract This paper discusses the importance of preparing for the 'millennium' bug. Discussed are the ways large companies are preparing for this bug. Some of the fears attached to this topic are discussed such as the possibility for nuclear detonation and other mishaps that can severely cripple our society.
Abstract This paper reviews the nature of the Year 2000 computer problem. First, the general causes and immediate outcomes of the bug are described. Next, the potential impact of and readiness for the Year 2000 by various levels of government are described.
From the Paper "Abstract
This paper reviews the nature of the Year 2000 computer problem. First, the general causes and immediate outcomes of the bug are described. Next, the potential impact of and readiness for the Year 2000 by various levels of government are described. A number of federal government agencies are discussed. Overall results of a survey of state government efforts and readiness are reviewed. A survey of 500 county governments is assessed. Finally, conclusions based on a thorough literature review are drawn and key dates in the Year 2000 timeline are noted."

Topics in the table of contents are: Preparations for Y2K (Business Oriented Solutions) and (Risk Management Process), Third Party Year 2000 Compliance, Anticipated Economic Conditions in Y2K, Co-operation and Crisis.
Abstract This paper examines the future of software, including embedded processors with the power to network everything from cars to household appliances. The author of this paper examines immediate and projected developments for this type of software, looking in particular at ways to eliminate or reduce bugs. The paper focuses on smart source code analyzers for both sequential and distributed systems code.
From the Paper "Software will allow all sorts of devices, from cars to refrigerators, to exchange data and interact. We already have embedded processors in cars, linked by small "car-area" networks. But what if these processors begin to communicate over a broader network? The potential is very great, indeed. In remote areas, the embedded processors could warn the driver and suggest a route to the nearest gas station before the driver runs out of gas. We can also conceive of collision avoidance systems that are programmed to take control of a car when a collision appears to be imminent. The embedded processors in the cars that are about to collide can devise a strategy that avoids the collision, without risking a roll-over. If this prediction indeed comes true, the reliability of the car that you are driving in 2010 will depend on the dependability of the software in nearby cars. For example, your airbags might inflate if the software in a nearby car erroneously alerts your car that it is about to crash into it."
Abstract In this article, the writer discusses how Eric Carle's 'The Grouchy Lady Bug' may be used as a first grade math tool. The writer notes that although a number of printed and Internet sources have already expressed how to adapt this book for student exercises in mathematics and literature, this book shows itself amenable to other lessons a teacher devises, directly from the book in relation to what the curriculum must cover. The writer concludes that in its seeming lack of limitation for grade one learners, and others, the book can be strongly recommended to teachers accustomed to using literary and visual sources in the teaching of elementary mathematics.

From the Paper "To generate interest in a book that will be used for a number of lessons, learners can be helped to talk about the ladybug in general. Some Grade One students will say that they have seen one, and others can state words they would use to describe a ladybug to someone who had never seen one. Other students will answer questions as to how large a ladybug is in relation to other things in the room, reinforcing ideas of larger than and smaller than, the teacher framing questions that can be answered in simple responses of "Yes" or "No". Grade One students will giggle when asked if a ladybug is larger than the teacher's chair, or smaller than a speck on the ceiling, if it would fit in the teacher's pocket or handbag, or if a ladybug is larger than a cat? If the teacher had a pet ladybug, would he need to take it for walks?"
Abstract This paper explains that part of the reason that computer viruses are so prevalent is that many people are not adequately informed about what they are, how they work and what can be done to avoid them. The author points out that the sole purpose of computer viruses is to cause damage to the computer, much like the sole purpose of human viruses is to cause damage to the body. The paper also relates that some people claim that the government needs to combat computer viruses because they can halt the operations of businesses, which slow the economy, and potentially can wreak havoc on the government itself.

From the Paper "One of the most famous email viruses - also referred to as worms - is the "Love Bug" virus that began spreading in the first year of the new millennium. People would receive an email with the subject line reading "I Love You" and would open the attached 'love letter' that came with it. Much to their chagrin, the attachment was really a destructive virus that destroyed millions of dollars of computer equipment, not to mention crippling business and personal transactions across the globe."

Abstract In this article, the writer details the implementation of action learning methodology to resolve the problem of recurring bugs, despite coding having passed verification by the quality assurance team, within a pension fund data cleansing company. Assumptions made prior to implementation and anticipated problems are reviewed in light of the physical collection of data and its analysis within the framework of an action learning set. The writer points out that data collection differed from the initially suggested format due to practical considerations which became apparent during the implementation of this project.

Suggestions for the Future
Reflection on My Learning
Conclusion
From the Paper "Certain data and information were simply not available to the members of the set. This required a change in the planned method of data collection. A set member was now required to refer to members of other teams within the organization or receive clarification from management regarding the correct data to collect. Data was collected on notepads as communicated verbally, interview format, by members of the design and Quality Assurance teams. This data was then transferred to the shared electronic repository. The data included lists of legal statuses that a design request can hold as it moves through the software development life cycle. This data was transformed into information by integrating it within a logical process of legal changes between statuses. This process effectively forms a deliverable of this project by providing the set members with a procedure to follow to manage cross team change requests.
"Accuracy and relevance of the data was ensured by utilizing a central data repository in the form of a shared Excel spreadsheet."
Abstract This paper reviews the article "What's Bugging You" by Humayun Hussain. The paper first summarizes Hussain's article on food poisoning or food contamination in restaurants. The paper then reviews Hussain's optimal protocol for handling cases of food poisoning in the restaurant business, developed through his interviews for the article.
From the Paper "He also interviews a restaurant owner who states that the restaurant should not be responsible for any suggested cases of food poisoning. Despite this, Hussain does make some very strong points on the restaurant business when it comes to establishing credibility with the customers. He continues interviewing other owners and head chefs to seek out both sides of the argument. While doing this, he establishes the optimal protocol for handling cases of food poisoning in the restaurant business."
The following paper examines the way in which the declining number of desktop PC shipments in the U.S. and worldwide, in 2001, has given a new challenge to the PC industry.
Abstract This paper explores the factors that caused the decrease in desktop industry growth. This essay focuses on new technology substitution, competition forced price-cutting, and decrease in consumer demand. The author contends that portable PC's will eventually outsell desktops
From the Paper "PC makers, especially branded vendors, then can turn to small business, which has been growing enormously in the last five years. There is a great demand in using the Internet to facilitate the work-at-home businesses, which means this could be a fast expanding and stable market to rely on for several years in the future. What people need nowadays is simply to make the most of the effective and efficient use and maximum performance of the hardware as advertised by each company. If they need to combat the time with the fast growing internet era, then the speedy and accurate software is what business people need. Industry needs to grow various options to customers where they can choose what they need and in some good options. An industry may need to develop direct selling through customers, getting more various new entries in market diversification. "
Abstract Nick Adams is a man displaced in time. There is evidence throughout the Nick Adams stories that illustrate his character. As a young man, Nick seems to lose sight of the love of hunting and fishing instilled in him by his father, focusing on desires of a carnal nature. In the "Three Day Blow", Nick's friend Bill congratulates him for breaking up with Marge, who is not nick's social equal. Nick listens to his heart, not an antiquated, bigoted, macho social consciousness. Nick is always uneasy in confrontational situations. If not for Bug's intervention in "The Battler", Ad Francis would surely have harmed Nick. On the European battlefields, Nick comes to realize his true nature. Nick has come to forgive his father, now dead, his shortcomings, as he is grateful to his father for instilling in him the love of gaming and fishing, which served as Nick's salvation.
From the Paper "Nick Adams is a man displaced in time. His stories (as written by Hemingway) are set in the late dawn of the Industrial Age, a time dominated by rugged individualists that spread across America, changing its face to suit them by consuming vast amounts of natural resources. Nick has all the tools necessary to thrive in this new era; he is a young, white male, an educated doctor's son, and set to make his own mark on the world. It took the fortuitous survival of his adventurism and wanderlust, plus a bout with madness, for Nick to come to terms with himself; to know that he could be happy living in balance with nature."

Abstract This paper briefly discusses methods used by IT professionals when faced by bugs in the network and the inability to retrieve data. It shows that today IT environments are full of technologies to help deal with disasters and help with recovery efforts. It discusses the basic characteristics of these programs and the method used by teams to correct such potential "disasters".
From the Paper "Murphy is alive and well in the Information Technology (IT) world. Which is why disaster recovery planning is a critical function for so many IT departments. And why, as IT assumes a greater and more significant role in the success of organizations from small businesses to international corporations, disaster recovery and business continuance planning will become even more important in the future."
