This paper provides a brief and simple argument in favor of legalizing marijuana. For example, the paper argues that by legalizing marijuana, its sale could be taxed, which could greatly benefit the economy on local, state and federal levels. The paper also argues that the use of marijuana as a medicinal cannabis is especially useful for those suffering, in pain, or with health issues.

From the Paper:

"Furthermore, the legalization of marijuana will ensure that hemp is available easily for industrial use. Hemp is commonly used in textile industries in the production of textile products. The fibres in hemp are tough therefore making them suitable in the manufacture of fabric, paper and ropes. This means that production will be increased thus boosting the agricultural sector and earnings for farmers. This will then result into demand for manpower to work on hemp production as well and textile industries where it ends up being consumed (Kallen 245).
"The government should just legalise marijuana because the main reason for banning it is not legitimate. Currently, the drug is used by many citizens across the country. Compared to alcohol and other hard drugs like cocaine, marijuana has fewer effects on regular users. Many people die everyday because of the effects of alcohol and other drugs which lack other values as compared to marijuana that carries several benefits. The monetary value that the sale of the drug should not be portrayed in a negative way but instead capitalise on the good money made out of it (Ed Rosenthal 231). A lot of funds are being wasted on doing research such as in scenarios where scientists and sociologists want to establish the negative effects of marijuana on society. Money is also being diverted into efforts aimed at combating the sale and use of marijuana. These funds can be diverted to other important sectors of the economy if marijuana is legalized and help to save a lot."
