Abstract
The paper discusses how the documentary "Ever Shot Anyone?" (1996) depicts - from a female perspective - the experiences of a troop of middle-aged male Israeli reservists during their annual, month-long, tour of duty on the Israeli border on the Golan Heights. The paper looks at how the director and writer, Michal Aviad, explores how masculine identity and male friendships have been forged between members of this troop during repeated tours of reserve duty. The paper shows how using her destabilizing position, as the sole woman in an exclusively male community, as an incisive critical device, Aviad explores the relationship between the conception of Israeli male identity fostered in the reserve army and its operation in the Israeli family and society in general.

Abstract
In this paper, the writer explains the main concepts of Lucy Gill's book, "How to Work with just About Anyone: a Three Step Solution for getting Difficult People to Change", which aims to help the reader achieve the conflict-free workplace. The paper discusses the author's ideas on preventing and managing non-productive behavior and asserts that the most crucial aspect of this book is the emphasis that the office manager should not give up, and that he can change the negative behavior within the office. The paper highlights the book's main idea that the key is really to separate the behavior from the person, so that the behavior can be addressed from an organizational level and the organization can run more efficiently.
From the Paper
"This is a very practical and insightful book, that takes the complex interpretations of personal dynamics and boils them down to specific practical applications using proven techniques to solve office workplace challenges. The book is designed to enable the reader to achieve the ideal of the most efficient type of office: the conflict free workplace. The three fundamental points of the book are to achieve it through three steps: 1) getting to the heart of the conflict, or the real reason or source of conflict 2) choosing your problem-solving methods, and more specifically determining which problem-solving methods to avoid 3) choosing a different approach to solving problems, and keeping them solved."

Abstract
The paper looks at Jack Granatstein's 1998 text, "Who Killed Canadian History?" and argues that Granatstein's central thesis - that the history of this country has been seriously damaged by the practice of studying differences rather than commonalities - is overwrought and that he fails to appreciate how a multi-faceted historiography is actually in keeping with Canada's immigrant-based, cosmopolitan and multicultural ethic. The paper contends that Dr. Granatstein does not appreciate that history - like most other academic disciplines - entails an ongoing process of negotiation between different groups and peoples.
From the Paper
"The discipline of historical scholarship has changed dramatically over the past 40 years as feminism, the rise of group politics, a changing demographic situation and new political sensibilities have led to a break-down of the "consensus" historiography that characterized the field prior to 1960. With this in mind, the following paper will look at Jack Granatstein's 1998 text, "Who Killed Canadian History?" Specifically, the next several pages will argue that Granatstein's central thesis - that the history of this country has been seriously damaged by the practice of studying differences rather than commonalities - is overwrought and that..."

Abstract
The paper looks at whether or not the fragmentation of Canadian history has been bad for Canada - as noted historian Jack Granatstein suggests - or whether it has really been a boon for all those who believe that education should be about introducing new ideas and modes of thought to young Canadians. Ultimately, this writer takes the view that Granatstein's 1998 book, "Who Killed Canadian History?" raises some worthwhile points but fails to consider all the ways in which a new approach to teaching history has engaged minority students and compelled those in the majority to take a more thoughtful look at their own past.
From the Paper
"The last 40 years have been years of extraordinary change in Canada. This nation has seen its traditional Anglo-British base gradually give way to be replaced by a more "multi-cultural" mosaic at precisely the same time as traditional gender and racial stereotypes have been turned upside down. No less importantly, history departments across the land have gradually "fragmented," with feminist history, "gay" history, African-Canadian history, various branches of social history, and native history all pulling and tearing at the traditional, monolithic portrayal of the Canadian past which existed without challenge until the 1960s."

Abstract
The Secret is the title of a 2006 book and film which purport to reveal to the general public what had been until then a hidden fact of reality which, they claim, can be of huge benefit to anyone who learns how to properly master it. In this paper we will briefly analyze this claim and evaluate it based upon three separate but interrelated frameworks of reference: a purely scientific/logical framework, a Christian framework (but emphasizing ethics rather than theology), and an integral framework based upon Ken Wilber's holistic paradigm. In each case we will find The Secret lacking in some respect.

Abstract
This is a how-to book for ethics and the ministry. There has to be a basic core of ethics and integrity within anyone who has any chance of succeeding in the ministry. One could be hard pressed to find any profession, career, or job where integrity is not a basic job requirement. But for the minister, integrity and ethics are not just core necessities, they are what might be called tools of the trade.

Abstract
Lucid dreaming means dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming. This paper discusses this particular state of consciousness that allows people to live out their fantasies in the world inside their minds by explaining how to attain this state by understanding how the mind works on an unconscious level.
From the Paper
"Once you begin to understand the basics of lucid dreaming and you begin to have intermittent experiences of a lucid nature, you need to start looking for dream signs. Dream signs play a dramatic role in helping you realize you aren't awake. Investigate your dream journal and look for trends. When it becomes apparent what things happen in most of your dreams, the next time they happen, you will know you're dreaming. If you always swim in your dreams, the next time you are swimming, it's a good bet that you're dreaming as well."
