Abstract
The paper is an annotated bibliography that looks at several sources examining photosynthesis and growth in several algal species. Specifically, the articles look mostly at pH levels and at the role pH plays in photosynthesis. However, other factors - like light levels and the carbon concentrations to which a species is introduced - also are looked at.

Abstract
This paper reviews, utilizing a representative sampling of the scholarly literature, what the United States prison system has done for the growing over-50 population housed in its facilities. Specifically, the annotated bibliography touches upon the threats posed by ailments such as Alzheimer's, heart disease, and diabetes and the paper also looks at the matter of over-crowding and its implications. Finally, some brief mention is made of sentencing alternatives that should be employed to ease the burden upon the current prison system. The paper contends that prison facilities must start establishing specialized units for the geriatrics in their midst or else a tragic state of affairs could unfold.
