From the Paper:"Kiss of the Fur Queen In the novel Kiss of the Fur Queen, Tomson Highway does an unusual and difficult thing. He sets out to fuse an art form that is quintessentially European, i.e. the novel, with ways of thinking and story-telling that are quintessentially Cree. As the blurb on the back cover states, "Tomson Highway writes in English, but he dreams in Cree." Highway succeeds with this difficult and complex artistic device. Part of his success may be traced to the deft way in which he uses the Fur Queen of the title. It should first be noted that the novel's title refers to the kiss of the Fur Queen. "
