As more men enter the nursing profession, diversity is becoming the order of the day in health care at all levels. Another aspect of diversity is race and ethnicity since many nurses are black or nurses of color. Waters (2004) points out that diversity is a combination of gender, culture, and age, all of which form organizational culture, consisting of the assumptions, values, and norms of that organization's members and their behaviors. Out of diversity comes coordinated activities and enduring practices on the unit."
