The frontline sponsors are OASIS -- Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards and UN/CEFACT -- United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business. A host of other bodies support this, the major ones are NIST -- National Institute of Standards and Technology and W3C -- World Wide Web Consortium. ebXML is slated to emerge as the global protocol for majority of the business transactions in the forthcoming years.
