"A global health issue that is becoming more severe each year, especially in developed and industrialized countries, is increased obesity among the youth. In the United States obesity is being described as an epidemic. Numerous research studies show that obesity is becoming one of the most serious threats to health in many industrialized countries in the world. The implications of this problem extend even beyond issues of personal health as they impact adversely on other areas of societal balance and development, such as the economics and education."
