The rest of Europe became involved through various alliances, loyalties, and enmity, respectively. The involvement of the United States lasted only months, from 1917 to the end of the War. The country's initial declaration of neutrality for the majority of the War ended when the country's economy was seriously threatened by Germany's warfare practices (Feldmeth)."
