This paper looks at the Transplantation Transmission Sentinel Network (TTSN) from an operational and ethical aspect. It also discusses the background and history of TTSN, the benefits to the users, and the ethical implications.
"The web-based application has been divided into five stages of , tissue, and eye donor. This allows each processor or distributor to add specific donor numbers into the system. The second stage includes the ability to track the final disposition of any allograft recovered using the allograft identifier, type of allograft, implanting surgeon, and confidential recipient identifiers. The third stage includes a simple trace-back and trace-forward notification system for adverse events using the recipient and allograft identifiers, contact information, and the nature of the event. This portion of the system will be searchable by clinical personnel. The next stage will expand the system to include appropriate public health and regulatory agencies notification. The fifth stage will expand the current system to the include education within the community through communication of epidemiological information to system participants. "
