From the Paper:
"We have seen cases involving the right to die going through our Supreme Court for years. A case in 1990 involving Nancy Cruzan was one of these cases. Nancy Cruzan was a woman from Missouri who ended up in a comatose state and was only being kept alive through a feeding tube. Doctors concluded that she was no longer aware of her environment and would never be aware of her environment, and that she was in a total vegetative state. Her family argued that her right to die with dignity was protected under the Due Process Clause of the United States. Evidence that Nancy Cruzan would have wanted to die if ever in a vegetative situation was shown, and the Supreme Court agreed that her right to die was a liberty protected under the Due Process Clause. Her feeding tube was eventually removed, which led to her death."
