The paper discusses drug abuse and addiction and looks at five different categories of drugs and the three major classes of prescription drugs. The paper reveals the serious, even fatal consequences of overusing prescription medication. The paper is of the opinion that the future of prescription pills lies mainly on the efforts and opinions of society as a whole.

"At this precise moment a mother is heartbroken after receiving a call from a nearby hospital informing her that her daughter is in critical condition after overdosing on prescription medication. In another neighborhood a man is flabbergasted after learning that his wife has been arrested for forging a prescription for painkillers. Every second of every day, more and more American's are abusing prescription drugs. And at the same time millions of them are becoming addicts."
