"Empowerment is a process of unleashing the human potential and enhancing the human ability to effect and maintain societal growth (Rubino 2007). It has gained emphasis in these times of unprecedented change and crises encountered in the face of limited resources. Major transitions in society have produced an upheaval and a feeling of uncertainty. People need to define their jobs, businesses and even the directions they are taking in life. This transition incurs overwhelming change, accompanied by a sense of loss and uncertainty.
