From the Paper:

"This reliance on technology in post-secondary educational settings has increased since that study was completed. Recent trends in higher education to incorporate technology are presented by The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). NCES reported that during the 2000-2001 academic year, 56 percent of all two- and four-year Title IV-eligible, degree-granting institutions offered distance education courses, and another 12 percent had plans to offer those courses within 3 years. The Center also reported that public institutions were more likely than private institutions to offer distance education courses--approximately 90 percent versus 16 percent, respectively, for two-year schools and 90 percent versus 40 percent, also respectively, for four-year schools."
