"With the goals of information systems in mind, it is essential then that system analysis and design are employed in developing an IS. Beginning with system analysis, it is the phase in which the requirements for a new information system are identified. The deficiencies in the current system and the opportunities for improvement are investigated and documented. Secondly, user requirements and accept criteria are stated. Thirdly, system analysis recognizes the restrictions on the new system and offers alternatives. Overall, the objective here is to produce an overview of an organization and its processes (in other words, how data flow) that will allow the logical design of a method for transforming the data."
