The paper discusses how those who cannot naturally conform to society's heightened aesthetic image are faced with debilitating disorders which they themselves induce as a final resort to reaching that ideal body image. The paper addresses one such disease which is that of bulimia nervosa, in which sufferers are compelled to eat compulsively, followed by voluntary vomiting in order to rid the body of the fattening foods recently consumed.
