This paper discusses the issue of sexual harassment in male-dominated industries such as the construction industry in which the author herself works. The paper provides a definition of sexual harassment and describes the author's firsthand experiences of sexually harassing behavior directed toward herself. Applying John P. Kotter's eight steps for leading organizational change to her situation, the author describes her plan for making the necessary changes to her job site in order to lessen the occurrences of sexual harassment and ultimately end it altogether. The author also describes three common methods of handling sexual harassment, awareness training, prevention, and diversity acceptance training, and concludes that as more women enter the fields of construction and engineering, by implementing these and other methods, it will be possible for men and women to work together harmoniously.

"Sexual harassment in construction occurs for a multitude of reasons. In an industry where there are often no women on the site for the duration of the project, working with women can be seen as a novelty. Many men in construction forget how to behave in mixed company, forget their place of employment is actually a workplace, and unfortunately, the normal behavior that one is accustomed to in office buildings and other workplaces isn't found regularly. Although one would think sexually harassing behavior was an issue only with laborers and unskilled workers, in my experience the superintendents and foremen perpetrate sexual harassment at a more frequent rate."
