The essay, "Panopticism" by Michel Foucault, addresses many topics in a brief space - Foucault examines subjects from the balance of power in medieval society to methods of law enforcement in modern times. This paper presents an overview of the work and shows that Foucault's general ideas regarding the control mechanism of a panoptic structure in society are evident; however, his finer points are more difficult to grasp.From the Paper:
