An examination of the leadership accomplishments of Oprah Winfrey.
965 words (approx. 3.9 pages) | 5 sources | MLA | 2007

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses Oprah Winfrey's accomplishments as a global media leader and philanthropist. It discusses her leadership characteristics as evidenced from her show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, O, The Oprah magazine and The Oprah Winfrey Foundation. It also looks at her skills in motivating and encouraging others and creating a teamwork environment.

From the Paper:

"Oprah is a person of integrity because she honestly believes in the ideas she promotes. Moreover, she promotes ideas that encourage and benefit others. A side effect of this is the fact that through her kindness, she motivates others to be better people. For example, the Oprah Winfrey Foundations are active in the area of "global humanitarian efforts in developing countries" (Precinct Reporter). In 2002, Winfrey's Christmas Kindness South Africa "brought a day of joy to tens of thousands of children" (Precinct Reporter). This program provided orphanages and rural schools "food, clothing, athletic shoes, school supplies, books and toys" (Precinct Reporter). In addition, Winfrey forged an alliance with South Africa's Ministry of Education, which intends to build the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls South Africa" (Precinct Reporter). These are few examples of Winfrey's integrity. She is committed to more than just making money for herself. She wants to help others discover their true potential. In this instance, we can see how Winfrey truly cares for others and is sincerely interested in helping them in any way that she can. These involvements also illustrate how Winfrey knows her job. In fact, it shows that she knows her potential above and beyond her job."
