The paper relates that Sophocles' (circa 496 BC-406 BC) play "Oedipus the King"-also known as "Oedipus Rex"-refers to a ruler who is considered to be a great man of deep insight. The paper describes how taking place in Thebes, Greece during a plague, its citizens reach out to Oedipus to help end the plague that has left its fields and its women barren, and being a brilliant man of deep insight, Oedipus anticipated his citizens' need and sent Creon, his brother-in-law, to visit the House of Apollo and receive permission to speak with the Oracle of Delphi (Sophocles).From the Paper:
