2,005 words (approx. 8 pages) | 4 sources | APA | 2010 | United States
Published on: Dec 24, 2010

Paper Summary:

The paper discusses how an effective manager will employ an array of strategic nonverbal cues as a supplement to verbalized messages. The paper explains that nonverbal communication is a universal mode of expression that bridges linguistic and cultural gaps between diverse employees, and therefore a manager's credibility will rest heavily on the effective use of nonverbal cues. The paper focuses on the issue of communication between the genders and how clothing communicates gender roles. The paper clearly shows how nonverbal communication is a central part of projecting a confident, clear and effective management style.

From the Paper:

"The development of verbal communication abilities in professionals is only one aspect in the development of individual communication strategy. The initiation of discourse with others will concern the activation of a wide array of communicative methods which will include, in addition to verbal capacity, the refinement of nonverbal communication methods. These include gestures, which themselves are comprised of a number of distinct gestural forms. And as our research denotes, one who is gifted in the area of effective managerial communication from a verbal perspective will quite likely demonstrate a dexterity in the nonverbal realm as well."
