Written in 2008; 2,653 words; 11 sources; MLA; $ 79.95
Paper Summary:
This paper discusses various ways that have been used throughout history in order to resolve conflict. The paper specifically provides examples of when violence was used and instances when non-violence was used to achieve resolution. The paper concludes that implementing non-violence, when overcoming conflict, may take a long period of time, but through its ability to change and alter a person's perspective and mind, non-violence is an optimistic and everlasting solution to achieve peace.
From the Paper:
"Similarly, Che Guevara, a revolutionary in Cuba, used parallel ideas to that of Mao Tse-tung. These two revolutionary leaders both used violence to obtain what they wanted and both did not wait for something to be done; rather, they fought aggressively to pursue their dreams. Guevara said, "It is not necessary to wait until all conditions for making revolution exist; the insurrection can create them" (Guevara, 1). In this quotation, Guevara argues that one should not wait passively and be oppressed by a dictatorship, but instead take the initiative to stop the present repression. He also claimed, "when the forces of oppression come to maintain themselves in power against established law" (Guevara, 1)", it is appropriate to use guerilla warfare in order to achieve human rights."
