3,098 words (approx. 12.4 pages) | 14 sources | MLA | 2004

Paper Summary:

This paper examines the author's personal theoretical perspective on the Multimodal therapy model. The paper presents a definition of the model, the types of disorders the model would be used to treat, the discussion of the theory-building issues associated with Multimodal therapy, as well as some biblical applications to the approach. The author's personal style and experiences are discussed in regard to choosing a theoretical perspective. Additionally, other models and approaches are compared and contrasted.

From the Paper:

"The multimodal approach would serve a useful tool as the patient recognizes the need for change to occur. The cognitive approach would also come into play as the therapist challenges the client to think about behavior modification. Interpersonal relationships could be affected as well, and depression or anger may set in. It stands to reason that several areas of dissatisfaction would surface in such circumstances. This method's multi-faceted approach would be useful by helping a client recognize the need for behavior modification, helping her realize a positive self image, regarding food as a positive sensory experience without the negative feelings or guilt, and being willing to ask family members to be sensitive to her attitudes toward food."
