Managing International Business
A brief look at the role of managers in business, specifically those involved in international business.
833 words (approx. 3.3 pages) | 2 sources | APA | 2009 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the responsibility of a manager in today's world as well as the skills and qualities that are important for this role. The paper briefly touches upon the interplay between the external and internal environment in which a multinational corporation (MNC) operates and looks at the significance of symbols in a corporate culture. The paper then recommends a policy or action to an e-commerce company wanting to do business internationally. Managers are also advised to become as familiar as possible with the various cultures and emphasis is placed on the need for extensive training and hiring of multicultural language interpreters.

From the Paper:

"Assigning blame for jointly produced acts, such as those that occur in corporations is viewed with more limitations than the responsibilities of individuals alone. Certainly, depending on the act, assigning blame would not be the initial or relevant decision to be made especially those that occur in any corporation. For instance, dealing with a major issue such as sexual harassment. Both and or all parties involved, including the company as a whole stand to suffer tremendous loss. Costs are always a major factor and the integrity of the employees and company reputation all stand to have a negative impact on the flow of business. Moral responsibility differs in these cases from singular actions because it stems from the fact that in Kantian terms, organizations are not ends themselves."
