Long-Term Memory
An overview of the nature and formation of long-term memories.
1,174 words (approx. 4.7 pages) | 7 sources | APA | 2009 United States

Paper Summary:

The paper outlines the basic structure and mechanisms of areas controlling the functions of the brain, including the cerebellum, medulla oblongata, diencephalon, thalamus and hypothalamus, cerebrum and cerebral cortex. The paper explains the overall process of human memory storage and recall and focuses on the process of long-term memory (LTM) formation.

From the Paper:

"Though there are areas involved in both conscious and unconscious functions of the brain, all can be demonstrated to include the use of memories either inherently present or learned and developed with conscious experience. These areas include the cerebellum, medulla oblongata, midbrain, pons, diencephalon, inclusive of the thalamus and hypothalamus, and the cerebrum and cerebral cortex. The cerebellum is the second largest brain area that serves functions such as fine motor coordination, posture, and balance. The medulla oblongata and pons are the areas in control of heartbeat, respiration, digestion, breathing, blood pressure, coughing, and similar involuntary functions. The midbrain is in control of relaying sensory signals to and from the forebrain."

Have excelled in all Psychology courses offered by Southern New Hampshire University. These include A grades in Research Methods, Abnormal Behavior, Human Dev., Health Psychology, Social Psychology, Practice of Counseling & Techniques, and Anthropology--work which brought me several recommendations from professors, rewards for outstanding academic achievement, and the option of as many graduate schools. Research is my passion, so I welcome the opportunity to create a paper that is both outstanding and unique to your needs. As hinted by my nickname, I am now working toward a PhD, and thus do promise to shread and dispose of any copies of such paper once sold.
