Job Analysis

Paper Summary:

This paper explains what job analysis is, what different methods are used to analyze jobs and what the advantages and disadvantages are, in order to convince the reader job analysis is a useful and needed thing. It examines how job analysis is a necessary part of human resources for a number of reasons and how it gives a clearer picture of each job in an organization, where time and energy are being wasted, and where they could be better utilized.

"Job analysis is the practice of looking at a job from all angles, and using the data to decide what the real duties and requirements of the job are, and their relevance to the organization. It is important to remember that job analysis analyzes the job, not the person doing the job, and it should not be taken personally by employees undergoing job analysis. Ultimately, the purpose of job analysis is to determine how valid employment procedures, such as the selection process, training, compensation, and performance appraisal are to choosing and matching applicants to the right job, and how they benefit both the employee and the organization."
