Paper Summary:
This paper outlines the potential threats facing an organization that utilizes Internet technologies. The paper first discusses how information security needs to be implemented through a documentation of information security policies, plans and procedures and these must be effected via implementation and monitoring of compliance. The paper further discusses how the organization's leadership should also develop a culture wherein information security is part of the day-to-day realities of the organization's existence. The paper explains that the real threats to security are people and they should be perceived as the primary elements needing protection.
From the Paper:
"There is no doubt that the pervasiveness of the Internet has been both a boon and a bane in today's society. A boon considering it has facilitated ease of communications and enabled people to do things differently in a way that technology is part of everyday living. The bane of course is the numerous threats that pervade in cyberspace from malicious intruders, spam mails, phishing and malwares. The organization whether in business or any other endeavor has been dependent on the Internet from its email and messaging system, remote login and Website that announced its existence to the world."
