Inter-Racial Tensions in the Unites States

Paper Summary:

This paper examines the history of inter-racial tensions in the United States, from the tension between Europeans and Native Americans in Jamestown and Plymouth until today. It discusses the differences between races in terms of economy and education and looks at some of the opinions on how to deal with racism. The paper discusses the need for education of all races.

"Above all, we must encourage education. Educated people are more aware of other people and more respectful of diversity. We must sponsor educational workshops and training seminars in the public and private sectors covering a range of topics related to multiculturalism, diversity awareness, immigration, racism and human rights in the workplace and community. We must engage employers, the media and academics and encourage them to help combat racism. We must encourage fairness and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, or ethnic origins. Racism exists in all communities, and racist groups target both urban and rural areas. We must encourage every training and educational facility across America to take action to challenge and prevent racism."
