"Good Samaritan laws are designed to protect individuals that go to the aid of others in the case of an accident or an emergency. The Good Samaritan law is not a federal statute; instead the laws are developed and enforced by the states. The Good Samaritan laws differ from state to state but overall the statutes assert that a person rendering aid to an individual in good faith will not be held liable in civil court if an injury occurs to the individual as a result of the rendering of aid.
