Do these programs cause people to take unnecessary trips to build points? Should the companies that buy the tickets be allowed to keep the points? The law allows consumers to give points away as gifts but not sell them, yet there are companies that broker these "gifts" for profit. How ethical is that? These points are granted tax free. Is the government losing tax revenue? Are the airlines cheating investors by giving away seat miles as points? Is it ethical to give reward points to charities?"
