"Florence Nightingale was born May, 12 1820 in Florence Italy, while her parents were on an extended tour of Europe. Her parents and their extended family were well educated and affluent, participating in many of the Victorian social structures of their time in the England, where they maintained two residences, one in Derbyshire and one in Hampshire. Florence her parents and her older sister Parthenope were the base of the immediate family, yet the extended family of the group was large and for the most part influential in their own right.
