Fire Prevention

This paper defines and examines fire prevention. It discusses the history and tragic events that make fire prevention what it is today as well as the main goals of fire prevention and fire prevention laws. The paper also discusses the history of fire prevention in the United States and looks at the implementation of National Fire Prevention Week. "There may not have been a better time to start this paper on Fire Prevention, its importance, and the question of whether it's truly needed or not than on National Fire Prevention Week. Just the fact that Fire Prevention has a week dedicated to the national education of fire speaks of its importance, and the idea of fire prevention will always be needed until we can eradicate fire, emergencies, and natural disasters, which doesn't seem to be anytime soon. The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 can be given credit for the adoption of National Fire Prevention Week. How the fire started is up to speculation, but the important part is that the fire burned over 2000 acres in 27 hours, killing 300 people, leaving 100,000 homeless and burning over 17,000 structures. When Chicago rebuilt, they began having yearly festivities celebrating the anniversary of the fire."
