2,400 words (approx. 9.6 pages) | 9 sources | MLA | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

The writer of this paper explores the controversial issue of euthanasia and the rights of terminally ill individuals who choose to end their lives with some form of dignity. This paper examines the 'quality of life' debate as well as the various religious communities who abhor any sort of suicide, assisted or otherwise. This paper also discusses the legal ramifications of assisted suicide.

From the Paper:

"There are reasonable philosophers who admit that euthanasia is reasonable when life has lost all dignity. That is the whole basis for believing that Euthanasia is morally acceptable. The principle of "Live Life to the Fullest" becomes moot when there is no fullness to be enjoyed. Euthanasia is not a tool for eliminating depression or sadness, It is not an answer for doing away with the frustrations of humanity and human life. It is, instead, an act of kindness. It is a new way of respecting what life is all about. On a personal note, life is not meant to end in excruciating pain and the inability for body and mind to function without the aid of technology."
