This paper addresses patient autonomy and decision-making about treatment and presents the position that all patients have autonomy as a right and are entitled to make decisions as they see fit and as based on their cultural beliefs. This paper uses two traditional ethic theories, utilitarianism and deontology and discusses ethical principles such as maleficence, nonmaleficence, fidelity and justice.

"The issue in the position paper was end-of-life care. This issue is very relevant because the population of North America is rapidly aging and will soon need this type of care. The issue discussed in the position paper was patient autonomy and decision-making about treatment. My position was that all patients have autonomy as a right and are entitled to make decisions as they see fit and as based on their cultural beliefs. This paper will use two traditional ethic theories, utilitarianism and deontology. I will also be discussing ethical principles such as maleficence, nonmaleficence,..."
