Effective Teams in the Workplace

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the nature of a team and the aspects that make a team successful. It specifically focuses on teams that exist in the workplace. The paper also briefly discusses motivating factors for a team to work well together, as well as issues related to dissonance. In addition, the paper looks at conditions and environmental factors that may produce different results based on the team members.

"In the age of globalization however, people with various skill levels and personalities are forced by circumstances to be in the same team and presence of each other. Culture and up-bring also play an important role in developing the personality of the individual and the team. When working in global teams, identifying and hiring the right person can help develop a more cohesive team.(Kirkman, Gibson, & Shapiro, 2001) When people with diverse and radically different backgrounds are put in the same environment, conflicts and misunderstandings are generally expected. But communication and belief that team members also want to do a good job. This is not to state that team dynamic should not be without questions and queries. It is vital that the queries are addressed in a fair and just manner."
