"The term originated in 1988, according to journalist Michael Fumento (Schuchardt, 2001), but anger on the roads over another person's driving is not a new phenomenon. Some people maintain it has occurred consistently since the invention of the automobile, and by the mid-1990s, the term was commonly used to define aggressive driving behaviors. However, road rage differs from aggressive driving, because most experts agree that in road rage, there is intent do harm the other driver, while in aggressive driving, there is not."
