From the Paper:

"The code espoused by the American Counseling Association is to enhance the quality of life within society as a whole while also advancing and promoting the quality of counselors alongside their profession, in order to work towards the promotion of respect for human dignity. They are scientific, educational, and professional as an organization. (ACA 2) This code of ethics is legally enforceable and if necessary legal means are sought in the enforcement of these rules, a testament to their solidity and effectiveness. The code of the American Counseling Association has been established to serve five goals: to clarify the responsibilities and requirements to their members, to support the goals and mission of the organization, to put in place an infrastructure for members to proceed with inquiries or complaints both against other members or the organization itself, and most relevant, to establish the ethical behaviors which define the principles of their employees."
