2,022 words (approx. 8.1 pages) | 11 sources | MLA | 2005 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the growing instances of rape, date-rape and gamma-hydroxybutyrate, (GBH) on college campuses and looks at different programs that can be implemented to prevent incidences of rape from happening and to aid victims.

From the Paper:

"Although alcohol is the number one date rape drug, there is many more emerging on the market nowadays. Many people don't even know the types of date rape drugs that are most commonly used. The two most popular drugs are Rohypnol and Gamma-hydroxybutyrate, more commonly known as GHB, or Liquid-G. Rohypnol, or "roofies", are prescribed by doctors in other countries for severe sleeping disorders; it is in the same drug category as Valium. However, according to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, one dose of Rohypnol is ten times stronger than a dose of Valium (Baumgardner). It is usually a white, round tablet that dissolves in drinks. It is odorless, colorless and tasteless. Recently, though, the makers of the drug are dying the pills green to make it more visible in drinks. "
