From the Paper:

"Competition is very intense in the modern day organization. Companies are increasingly striving to differentiate their products and services in the market in order to gain higher profits and a greater market share. Portfolio management, product life cycle management, decision analysis and risk analysis are becoming some of the strategies that have to be used by managers and executives all over the world. For-profit organizations are investing a lot of money and human resources to help identify variables that can make their organizations competitive in their respective markets.
