From the Paper:
"Researchers such as Van den Bulck (2004), Visser & Diederik (2000), Heath (1984), and Williams & Dickinson (1993) stress theories of the relationship between the impact of mass media and fear of crime. But there are researchers such as Chiricos & Gertz (2000) that stress the variables used in the studies to test the theories and reject it. Additionally, other researchers such as Weitzer & Kubrin (2004) try to emphasize both theories and the variables arguing that those variables make a difference. To understand the impact of media on fear of crime, one must review the major findings of recent researchers. Thus the aim of this study is to examine the affects of media on fear of crime."
